Located in Jefferson County and sitting across from Shades Mountain, Homewood, Alabama, was incorporated in 1926. Homewood came into existence with the combination of Edgewood, Rosedale, and Oak Grove. Hollywood, a fourth community joined Homewood later.
Like many other places across the Birmingham area on Friday nights in the fall, Homewood begins to buzz about high school football. You will find in Alabama, that high school football is a source of pride.
Homewood High School in the one high school in the Homewood School System, so they want to stand tall among the surrounding communities. Last year, in the 2006-2007 season, they had a rough and uncharacteristic 3-6 year. This year, I know they want to make some big improvements.
