I had the most delightful visit this week with long-time Opelika residents, Jack and Betty Walton. After seventy years together, the Opelika Observer deemed it newsworthy, and asked me to do the story. Throughout our conversation, I couldn't help but reflect on the most evident and enduring qualities that create a strong relationship and prosperous community legacy.
It all begins with caring about each other. I am grateful for amazing folks that are the neighbors in Opelika... Let me introduce you to Betty and Jack, and their story that was published in the January 27th issue:

Have you ever had someone say something that stuck with you for years? Those few words that come back time after time and you never forget them?
I sat in church one Sunday and an elderly pastor shared his sermon with the congregation. His words, I'll always remember. It made an impact on my way of thinking, my life.
This is what he said.
"Rude doesn't make you right."
"Rude never makes you right."
"If you are right and you are rude, you are wrong."
"Rude is wrong."
That was one of my WOW moments.
When someone is rude I think about that day an elderly pastor shared his life lesson with me and his congregation.
How many times has someone been rude to you? Was it right?

Born and raised out in the country, that's me. My life sounds just like a country song. I grew up on a dirt road just outside of a small town called Notasulga with a population of around 900 people. I went to school at a 1A public school. My family always had a garden and farm animals especially chickens. It was the way I grew up, my way of life early on. I'm so proud of where I come from.
Fast forward to today.
Part of being in real estate is deciding what market will be targeted. I now live inside the city limits of Auburn; however, my family, my friends, and acquaintances from my younger years are from those rural areas.
I've heard agents say that they will not work the rural areas and that's fine. My choice is to work inside the city limits but also work outside the city limits in the rural areas. That's where I come from.
If you're looking for a real estate broker that doesn't mind working with you regardless of whether your address is a street name or county road number, give me a call.
Serving Auburn/Opelika, Lake Martin and the surrounding areas.
