Glendora has it Made! One of the local churches, Cornerstone Bible Church, has a safe and fun way for your kids to spend Halloween afternoon this year! (Actually, they do it every year, but this is the first time I'm writing about it!)

From 2:00 until 5:30pm on Halloween, the kids can come and play games for candy, go "trunk-or-treating" and generally have a BLAST. Cornerstone has even revived the old fashioned "cake walk" - so exciting for me because I LOVE cake - where kids can walk around a circle of squares (sounds kind of funny, doesn't it!) like musical chairs and when they are done, the winner gets to choose his or her dessert from the dessert table! Of course, the more icing the better! And here's the best part... the admission is only one bag of candy per child, which in today's economy is pretty doable for everyone.

So dress up your kids in their favorite costume and bring them down for loads and loads of candy fun!

Home owners looking for some tax relief may find just that if they were victims of the recent Station Fire & Palos Verdes Peninsula Fire. According to the Los Angeles County Assessor's Office damage must be more than $10,000 from the recent fires. Homeowners should submit an Application For Reassessment Property Damaged or Destroyed by Misfortune or Calamity. The damage must have taken place in 12 months of the occurance of the damage.

According to information gleamed from the Los Angeles County Assessor's website, Homeowners who qualify will receive a corrected tax bill or refund. Adjustments and prorations of taxes will be based on loss of value from the date of damage to the end of the fiscal year June 30, 2010 or until the structure is repaired.
