Look at me! I'm good news!

Tiffany Wilson - Green Real Estate, First Time Home Buyers & Investors: Real Estate Agent in Redondo Beach, CA
With all of the negative news that we see in the media, it is sad that the few good stories that come along are often missed. Well I want to take this opportunity to highlight a fantastic story which really hits home. This is the story of the dream of having a cutting edge school in the Wiseburn school district to serve the high school grades, and the impending reality of the Da Vinci Schools - a set of charter schools poised to shape the bright young minds with teachers and administrators who care. But this dream could not have been a reality without the participation and perserverance of a number of teachers, administrators, and community members. The story starts year ago... The Wiseburn School District consists of 4 schools which churn out bright, young, eager students. Unfortunately, this non-unified school district does not have a high school, to the dismay of the Wiseburn School District neighborhoods. So for quite some time, efforts have been made to unify the Wiseburn School District, which would then pave the way for a high school. Alas, this is a story that has been perpetually on hold. Numerous road blocks have stood in the way of unification, causing years of delay. But enough was enough. Something had to be done in the interim to provide a solution until the unification process could be completed. Enter the founders of the Wiseburn Charter Schools, Steve Wallis, Nicole Tempel, and Erin Hughes. These folks are all experienced educators who are very good at what they do. But beyone that, they are exceptional people who have worked exceptionally hard to establish the Da Vinci schools. Their passion, enthusiasm, dedication, and contribution to the community must be recognized and noted. ALL of the residents of the neighborhoods of the Wiseburn School District - as well as the students of the Greater South Bay - should be grateful for their efforts to provide such a high quality education facility. Now because of the efforts of the courageous people, and the participation of like-minded teachers and administrators, the South Bay - and the Wiseburn School District - have the benefit of the Da Vinci School of Science and soon the Da Vinci School of Design. Members of the local business community, which includes local aerospace firms, will be participating in the curriculum. Students are even poised to receive and associates degree by the time they graduate. Learning is done through projects, allowing students to apply their knowledge and learn through experience. So lets thank all of the folks involved with the Wiseburn Charter Schools, and congratulate them on their upcoming Grand Opening on August 18, 2009.

Wiseburn Pocket Park Efforts in the Daily Breeze

Tiffany Wilson - Green Real Estate, First Time Home Buyers & Investors: Real Estate Agent in Redondo Beach, CA

For over a year now, the Wiseburn community has been rallying to get an empty, unused lot on 133rd Street, converted into a "pocket park" that everyone could enjoy. Instead, over the years the residents have been subject to an unsightly, sometimes dangerous, lot that serves no purpose to the community, now its owners - Golden State Water.

The Daily Breeze just chronicled the efforts of the Wiseburn community in a recent article "Drought sidetracks plans to make a Wiseburn vacant lot a park." Click here to read this article on the continuing efforts to beautify the wonderful community of Wiseburn.
