Eastern Colorado: Byers & Deer Trail areas. A few reasons folks are moving here! 80103
I recently listed a mini-ranch out in Deer Trail Colorado. This area is pretty much undiscovered and I can't figure out why. This is an area where the Denver sprawl and lifestyle has not yet reached but reflects true western Colorado living.
Location: Byers is a short 45 minute drive east from Denver on I-70. Byers is easily commutable and access to nightlife, airport, grocery stores, amenities and restaurants is easy. The views of the front range are spectacular! Watch blazing sunsets and awesome sunrises from Pike's Peak to Long's Peak. Map of Byers.
Growing: New business's are moving into this area. Race fans pay attention: High Plains Raceway is here! A 460 acre state of the art racing facility with all the bells and whistles! Take a minute to peruse the site to check out the cool features.
Activities: What's your flavor? Wildlife is abundant in this area and most of the parcels are 30+ acres. Here is a list of possibilities for your outdoor fun: equestrian, ATV/Dirt biking, Hunting, Ranching, Farming, Hiking, Mountain Biking. I've seen all of these throughout Byers & Deer Trail and some parcels can be molded into your playground.
Area Property Features: Just outside of a major metro area yet close enough to access. Quiet and Private! Expansive unobstructed views of the front range. Low Taxes, no HOA's. Lots of possibilities; build your dream home and actually use your land how you want. It's country living without the bustle.
There are many affordable Byers and Deer Trail homes and land for sale in this diverse area. Give me a call to check out this area and discover true Colorado living.

I have a listing south of Elbert, Colorado, that is an amazing A-Frame. It was recently highlighted in an article by Vickie Wallis on Examiner.com.
Examiner.com is sort of an "online local news source" that contains articles and news about interesting happenings in over 200 cities and towns across the USA and Canada.
If you haven't checked out the one in your area, take a look - you'll be informed and entertained!
Oh, and by the way, they're looking for writers and we have a bunch of good ones here at AR, so I'll be looking forward to some of your "by-lines" on Examiner! :-)
More information about the listing is available at www.MikeHendren.com

I always thought that Calhan, Colorado is located in El Paso county.
It is. But it's also located in Elbert county. That's what I discovered last week when I was assigned to do a closing in Calhan.
One of the first things I do when I get a closing assignment is find out where the borrowers are located. I thought it was unusual that the trip would take me more than an hour and a half, according to Mapquest.
Just where in Calhan is this? Where in Colorado is this? It was when I looked at the map view that I saw that it was in Elbert county. Is this some kind of mistake? Is that really Calhan?
After locating the borrowers on the map, I called them to confirm the appointment.
Sure enough, they are in Elbert county.
It was a pleasurable closing experience. I actually like the long drives out into the rural areas of Colorado. There is hardly any traffic. Just miles and miles of open scenery. You could probably stop in the middle of the road and have a picnic if you wanted to.
Having GPS really came in handy. There were a lot of turns, and the road signs aren't easy to see.
Just in case the title company doubted that the closing was actually in Elbert county, and not El Paso county, I got photographic evidence:

I got a call last week to do a closing. It would be in a place in Colorado that I had never been to before. The first thing that came to my mind was:
Where is Elizabeth?
No, Elizabeth is not my personal assistant who helps me with scheduling my closing assignments, etc. Elizabeth is the name of a small Colorado town in Elbert county. It's a little more than 50 miles from Colorado Springs -- about a one-hour drive.
One of the things that I like about being a notary signing agent is that I have opportunities to visit places in Colorado that I would otherwise not go to. I thrive on the challenges that getting to some of these places presents.
My job as a notary signing agent has taken me high up in the mountains, and far out on the eastern plains. I actually look forward to getting closing assignments to places I've never been or heard of.
And in the future, if anyone asks me, 'Where is Elizabeth?', ... I'll know.
