Sweet Basil Deli - A Great Place To Eat!

great Waterbury eateries I’ve been working part-time in Watertown now for some 3 years – first as a newspaper delivery man, then as a realtor. I’ve had plenty of occasions to visit the Watertown Meat Center on Main Street, but on several occasions as I walked to the center, I noticed a bustling patio full of people enjoying a nice day out, eating lunch with friend and family, or having a business get-together at the Sweet Basil Café and Deli, located directly across from the Watertown Public Library.

Curiosity got the better of me, so I stopped by to try out the menu.

I’m glad I did.

For those who love Panini bread, the Sweet Basil Café and Deli offers a variety of hot grilled sandwiches (very large!); for those who love cold sandwiches, you have your choice of mini-baguettes, herb ciabatta, multigrain and assorted wraps.

Me? I tried the Almost Philly Panini (I am not a fan of cheese on roast beef), altered to suit my tastes. That’s a sandwich that I can get from the Sweet Basil Café and Deli all the time!

Open Monday through Saturday 10 a.m. Close Monday and Saturday at 4 p.m., Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday at 6:00 p.m., and Thursday at 7:00 p.m.

Panini, Sandwiches, and Salads. Ask about Soups and Daily Specials when you visit! Sweet Basil Café and Deli provides delivery and catering services as well. Call for more information.

I was reading the Town Times this weekend and found several things of interest to Watertown/Oakville residents, for those who do not get or read the paper:

The Watertown Police Department has unveiled its new website, which is accessible through the Watertown CT homepage in the Departments link. The website provides information on the history of the department, as well as records, investigative services, animal control, parking information, arrest logs and other services. There are also links to MADD, AA, the Connecticut Sex Offender Registry, the CT DMV and Crimestoppers. Information will be updated regularly and there is even a site for resident feedback via a survey.

The PTO at John Trumbull Primary School is holding an Auction on May 29, 2009. The deadline for registering for the event has passed but you can still show your support by attending.

The John Trumbull Trot 5K Road Race being held on May 30, 2009 is still looking for sponsors. The proceeds will benefit a local charity. Contact the Watertown Recreation Department for more information.

On June 7, 2009, the Revolution 3 Triathlon will be coming through Watertown and is looking for volunteers to assist in maintaining the safety of the participants through various means. Click on the link above for further details.
