Real Estate in Hockessin, DE has a fairly wide range of values and is currently ranging from $200,000 to around the $1,000,000 mark. The public schools are North Star Elementary and H.B. DuPont. There are four private schools - Hockessin Montessori, Sanford School, Wilmington Christian School and CACC Montessori School. The town of Greenville, DE is located on Delaware Rt. 52, south of Centreville, DE and north of the city of Wilmington, DE. Greenville is only about a ten minute drive to the world renown Longwood Gardens in Kennett Square, PA which was originally a DuPont estate. Greenville is an affluent and upscale area and it's countryside is beautiful and still much of it is undeveloped. Much of this land was home to many DuPont estates some of which are still there and some which are open to the public. The DuPont family began their story in Greenville, DE at what is now the Hagley Museum where gunpowder was made throughout at least three wars. The DuPont family also preserved much of the land in what are now some of the finest parks in the area. The most beautiful one in my opinion is Valley Garden Park which overlooks the Hoopes Reservoir a beautiful lake and reservoir in the center of what is known as Chateau Country. It's a beautiful sight as you drive across and see the Canadian geese and swans floating gracefully across the water. This beautiful land is part of the land originally owned by William Penn who landed in Historic Old New Castle, DE.

Greenville, DE is also famous for the Winterthur Museum which is located just north of town and off Rt. 52 on the east side of the highway. It was the estate of Henry Francis DuPont who created beautiful gardens and collected antiques that he loved so much. Winterthur is a beautiful and well preserved estate rich with history. It's open to the public and it offers attractions for the whole family.  Another attraction, the Mt. Cuba Centeris a 630 acre preserve featuring gorgeous botanical gardens and pastures, very scenic! Just to the west side of the Hoopes Reservoir is the Mt. Cuba Astronomical Observatory which was built circa 1960 and opened to the public in 1963. It is now open to groups and educational tours on a prearranged schedule.

The Museum of Natural History is just north of town and a great example of the area's great attractions. This museum is loaded with all kinds of interesting displays of our natural earth including dinosaurs. The kids will love it! Another fun thing for the family is the Wilmington & Western Railroad which is an antique train that runs from Prices Corner to Mt. Cuba. It originally ran goods from the mills along the Red Clay Creek from Landenberg, PA on out to the Port of Wilmington. The family will love it!

Centreville, DE is a lovely little town straddling Rt. 52 just south of Chadds Ford, PA. Centreville was established in 1750 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The village is surrounded by beautiful rolling hills rich with U.S. History. It was mostly Quakers who originally started settling into the area as far back as the 1680s when it was still occupied by the Lenape Indians. The land was then owned by William Penn who landed in Historic New Castle, DE and it was gradually sold off to the settlers. The land became a desirable area to live and work in and also commute from as it still is today. The village is still very similar to the early settlement.

Centreville, DE is home to the famous Winterthur Museum, the Museum of Natural History, Brandywine Creek State Park and the Hagley Museum where the duPont story began. This was where the duPont family made gunpowder throughout at least three wars. The duPont family prospered greatly from that and other business ventures and land acquisitions.

Centreville, DE is just south of Historic Chadds Ford and Kennett Square, PA and just east of Hockessin, DE. Centreville is within about a five minute drive from other world renown attractions such as Longwood Gardens (once a duPont estate) and also the Brandywine River Museum which is loaded with art by N.C. Wyeth and Andrew Wyeth. The River Museum is also home to the Brandywine Conservancy. The town of Centreville, DE has many quaint shops and gallerys within a walkable distance and is well known for the very popular Buckley's Tavern. Many residents make an easy commute to the city of Wilmington, DE or Kennett Square or West Chester PA and some a little further to Philadelphia. The Brandywine Valley area is rich in attractions and amenities.

Real estate in Centreville, DE is on the high end as it is one of the most desirable areas to live. For the most part, prices start in the $400,000 range on the low end and go well into the million dollar ranges. The styles of homes are quite diverse and there are quite a large number of newer homes and subdivisions scattered across the beautiful landscape. Centreville, DE is truly a desirable area and rich with history. If you're planning on a move to the Brandywine Valley vicinity it's definitely worth a tour through the area!
