Hernando Beach Dredge Project Completed
Waterfront living in Hernando Beach, Florida, has just gotten better! With the Hernando Beach Dredge project nearly completed, boaters can now look forward to using a channel out to the Gulf of Mexico that is deeper and wider.
When first proposed, the Hernando Beach dredge project had some challenges to overcome that included issues such as permitting issues, spoil disposal, and sea grass preservation just to name a few.
Hernando County recently announced that the final surveys of the channel have been approved by the County Engineer. For all practical purposes, the dredge is completed and all that is left to do by the dredge contractor is cleanup and restoration of the sites where materials and equipment were loaded and stored.

Where to Go and What to do in Hernando County, Florida: Art in the Park, Brooksville, Florida
The Hernando County Fine Arts Council presents the 28th Annual Art in the Park event this weekend, March 10th through March 11th. Gates open at 10 AM and close at 5 PM on Saturday and 4 PM on Sunday.
Art in the Park is a popular event that includes juried fine art, arts and crafts, and student exhibits.
This year, a poetry contest is added. Food vendors are available and there will be entertainment throughout the two days of the event.
The festival takes places at Tom Varn Park, 306 Darby Lane, in Brooksville, Florida. Tom Varn Park provides a beautiful setting with artist and vendor tents arranged around a pond under beautiful shade trees.

If you like music, the WILL McLEAN MUSIC FESTIVAL may just be the event for you to be at this weekend!
Already in it's 23rd year, the Will McLean Music Festival takes place from March 9, 2012 to March 11, 2012. Opening times are Noon to 11 PM on Friday, March 9th, Saturday and Sunday, doors will open earlier at 10 AM and close at 11 PM on Saturday and 6 PM on Sunday.
This music festival will be "music to your ears" with acoustical musci and entertainment by various Florida songwriters and singers. There will also be a storyteller, arts & crafts, games, workshops, and children activities.
Full admission for all days is $35 at the gate. Daily admission is $15 on Friday and Sunday and $18 on Saturday.
The Will McLean Music Festival is taking place at Sertoma Youth Ranch, 85 Myers Road, Brooksville.

Hernando County Home Sales Report February 2012

Closed transactions in Hernando County picked up again in February 2012 after dipping in January.
Homes on Market: 1514
Sold February 2012: 191
Sold prices covered a wide range in February:

$9,000 - $850,000
Average Sales Price: $93,817
Median Sales Price: $75,000
At the low end, an older single-wide manufactured home sold for only $9,000 cash. Located on over 1 acre of land, it was a bank-owned property with a list price of $12,900 that was in need of repairs.
At the high end, another home that was located on over 1 acre of land sold for $850,000. This is were the similarities end. This home would be considered to be in the luxury home category for Hernando County. Built in 2010 with 6250 SF of living area, this pool home has five bedrooms, four full baths, 2 half baths, gourmet kitchen and a grand stair case. This home was offered as a standard sale with a list price of $884,900 and was financed with a conventional loan.
Standard sales continue to dominate the local market.
566 properties are currently under contract, 58% of these are pending with all contingencies cleared. The number of homes under contract are on the rise and some home buyers have found themselves in multi-offer situations found they did not act quick enough.
