I have been a Realtor in Columbus Ga for twenty one years. I try to keep my posts on a local level or real estate related. I could not help writing about the Nobel Prize in economics. All the fuss over the Peace prize left some very fine Americans under appreciated. Thank you Jeannine Aversa, Karl Ritter and Matt Moore for publishing the names and story of the NOBEL PRIZE WINNERS IN ECONOMICS.

Elinor Ostrom of Indiana became the first woman to win a Nobel Prize in economics. Oliver Williamson was also a winner in the field and the two shared the 1.4 million dollar prize.

There is good news in Columbus Ga about some of our neighbors. The Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, made the local newspaper and it was all good news.

Members of Elks Lodge No.111 received a request from a family that needed help with a wheel chair ramp. A child in the family had just been released from the hospital after undergoing surgery which left the child unable to walk. Not only did lodge members build the ramp for the family. They found another fantastic neighbor who provided free building materials.

Tripp Mitchell, from Valley Fir and Redwood, located on Norris Rd. provided the Elks with wood, nails, cement and all the construction material needed to build the ramp. Tripp Mitchell helped out the Elks! The Elks built the wheel chair ramp and helped a family in need. Neighbors helping neighbors, helping neighbors!

My hat is off to all of the generous people involved in this wonderful, selfless act of kindness.

Money Magazine put out a new list of Top 10 Best Places to Live. Congratulations to Peachtree City Ga for making the top 10. Out of 2466 towns in the US that have a population between 8,500 and 50,000 Peachtree City Ga ranked number 8.
It is a cozy little hideaway with lots of greenspace and community amenities. I have ventured into Peachtree City several times and enjoyed the sites within the community. I particularly enjoyed the commercial signage size restrictions. There were no towering Shell, Exxon or Burger King signs looming over the landscape. Instead I found nice friendly postage stamp sized signs posted at entry ways to various commercial enterprise.
To be honest most of the time I drive right past Peachtree City on my way to and from Alanta. Would I want to live there? No! My favorite place to live is Columbus Ga. approximately fity miles south of Peachtree City.
Again Congratulations to the Residents, founders and leaders in Peachtree City Ga.

St. Francis Hospital is located at 2122 Manchester Expressway in Columbus Ga. This sprawling health care complex includes an emergency room. The Patrick Heart Institute of St. Francis, St. Francis Center for Surgical Care, St. Franci Orthopaedic Institute, The St. Francis Spine and Neurosurgery Center and Center for Breast Health.

Offsite locations include Franciscan Wooods, a warm and friendly assisted living complex.

Also The Bradley Center, provides compassionate Mental Health Care.

The facilty on Manchester was founded in 1950 and has grown to a 376 bed community hospital in Columbus Ga.

The Medical Center located at 707 Center Street, Columbus Ga. is also known as Columbus Regional Health Care System. The hospital has roots that go back as far as 1836 in Columbus, it became the Columbus Regional Health Care System in 1986.

Services include Emergency Room Services, Critical Care, Cancer Care, Endoscopy, Obstetrics, Repiratory Care, Sleeping Disorders, Surgical Services, Urgent Care, Women and Children Services, Rehabilitation Care and Pastoral Care.

Doctors Hospital is located next to the Medical Center near downtown Columbus. Doctors Hospital along with several other facilties are now part of the Columbus Regional Healtcare System.

Services here duplicate some at the Medical center but this is the home to "One Baby Place".
Interventional Radiology and Orthopedic services are readily available here.

Columbus Ga residents and residents in the surrounding counties are fortunate to have all of these facilties nearby. The many services and specialties provided within these facilities are a measure of our communities leadership to provide the best possible health care for the public. This past week 23 single family homes sold in Columbus Ga. Fifty three homes came new on the market and thirteen came back on the market. (Disregard all figures to the right of the Single Family heading, these figures represent areas outside of the Columbus Ga City Limits).

What is surprising to me are not the numbers of how many, what I found interesting are the comparison columns of Listing Price and Sold Price. To me the comparison of these two columns tells me that the Listing Agents did their homework and priced the home correctly. My hats off to you all for a job well done.
