Driving home yesterday, I happened to look up at the mountains surrounding Skitts Mountain Road in Cleveland Georgia and all of a sudden it hit me, I missed Fall in the north Georgia mountains. For the first time in 20 years, I missed Fall. Yes, it can happen. How many of you missed Fall? I realized last night in the dark, sweeping off the tons of leaves which covered my deck and walkway to the Chattahoochee River, I had truly missed seeing all these leaves in their splendor BEFORE they fell to my deck in a dismal brown layer, rapidly decomposing thanks to all the rain we have experienced in the past weeks. For some reason this year we have had unseasonably cold nights, not enough time to sit outside and look at the stars and smell the fire pit with a nice glass of wine. What happened? Life happened. Events which demanded more of my time than did the splendor of fall. Days inside institutions, nights racing home only to go back again in the mornings. Worries about tests, change of lifestyle, facing mortality, all these deminish abilities to enjoy even the most majestical star laden sky. Sadness and love are two sides of the same coin. How the coin toss turns out determines when and if you appreciate the events of the seasons. Stop, smell the roses. Move to the mountains, do it now. Time waits for no man nor woman, and yes it can happen..you can miss Fall. An extra hug to you all.

This promises to be a weekend when you JUST, MUST be in Helen and northeast Georgia! The weather will be beautiful, crisp and snappy, a wonderful example of what October should be, made for fall! Come on up and see all the leaves, sample all the food, and just plain enjoy! Just bring a container to take back home some pumpkins and fall flowers. You will want some comfortable shoes, walking here is sometimes on gravel, rock and yes dirt!!! You don't want to worry about ruining a pretty pair of shoes and our red Georgia clay is most difficult to remove, so bring comfortable OLD shoes. Also, think layers. It will be much cooler in the evenings and warm during the middle of the day. The gals have plenty to do, but don't forget the guys, plan some time to take a tour of nearby camp grounds, and Mark of the Potter over on Scenic Hwy 197, in Batesville area. You can buy pottery, but the guys can go out on the back porch and feed the trout they can only dream about catching. Yes the trout are protected, there are even hidden cameras to prevent avid fishermen from trying to fish at night.
Don't forget you can enjoy are area for a weekend home. Email me, let me tell you about the wonderful places for sale right now..great northeast Georgia investments and second homes. Let's talk soon!

Come on to Helen, Ga, you are way out of Atlanta, and it is your way out of Atlanta! Yes, it is raining, but you can bring your umbrella and enjoy! The leaves are changing, but not yet at their best. With the hard rains we are having many leaves fall before they should for optimum color. However, I have never seen an ugly autumn here!! Come on up and enjoy an uncommon weekend! Think about it, can you move yet? If you can, now is a great time to buy! Give me a call, perhaps you can talk with a local lender and be pleasantly surprised, moving day may be closer than you think. Dreams do come true. Give me your wish list...let's see..

I promised some updates to the fall season in Helen. Actually Fall begins tomorrow, but here is my first update. RAIN, Rain and more rain!! Good news for those to the south of us who are needing water, the Chattahoochee River is rolling quickly through our northeast Georgia areas headed for Lake Lanier and points south. We have been watching the rain for a week now, and if rain helps with fall color, we are in for a beautiful fall. What is good about looking at property and homes in the rain? LOTS..you can see any possible leaks in basements, erosion and road conditions. Running in and out of the rain looking at houses is not the most fun you will ever have, but it has its benefits. So, don't wait, if you are considering looking at homes in northeast Georgia, come on! The river in Helen will be great for tubing, the lake at Lake Burton will be ready for boats and we have places with shelter to keep you dry! Don't let the rain keep you away, Helen is always a great place to visit and relocate! Don't forget, your way out of Atlanta and other big cities!! See you soon.
