RED DAY AT KELLER WILLIAMS REALTY GIVING BACK TO OUR COMMUNITY!

Darlene Wurth REALTOR/REOS- : Real Estate Agent in Rome, GA

Today was Red Day for all Keller Williams Realty Offices across the nation. This is an annual event. Today from our local office we came out in full force dressed in our Red t-shirts raring to go.

This year we choose to help out in one of our local schools Southeast Elementary School(see pics below) First we was greeted by 6th graders who was assigned to give us a tour and showed us to the class room we were assigned to.

My 1st class was a 3rd grade class and they put on a cute puppet show for me, and then I read to them, then I went over to a 2nd grade class and read a couple of books to them. It is amazing how far school has progress in their teachings and how smart these chidren are:

Here a few of the pics

This one below is some of us with our helpers from the 6th grade

The one below is the 3rd graders with their puppets

The next one is the second grade class they were adorable

Here is another one of our agents with his class in the lunch room

These are just a few of the pictures, it was a very uplifting experience, I was having such a great time, all of the sudden I heard my name being broadcast all over the school Darlene Wurth please come to the office, kids giggled and said are you in trouble??? I look forward to our next Red Day.

The school counslor said we could come back anytime, they are in need of mentors for the children, Do I hear the school bear ringing ?

The media likes to discuss the negative......and only the negative. I would love to see a major news network actually bring a few top Real Estate agents on and have them share why today is such a great time to buy real estate.

With rates between 5.5% and 6.0% and inventory at record highs, people will find themselves saying "I should of" a year from now. Local inventory (GA) has seen a slow but steady decline over the past 2 months. Eventually we will level out and sellers will no longer be "desperate" and buyers will be left on the side lines wondering where the bargains went.

I had a client recently tell me......."I can't believe the American people. If shoes or cars were on sale, they would be flocking to the stores. But if real estate is ‘on sale', it's a depressed market. If I had the money, I would be buying land as fast as I could sign the contracts. When the rebound comes.....and it will......you will hear everyone say ‘I could have bought that for $_____ 6 months ago"

My advice.......if you are in a financial situation where you can buy......don't wait for others to start buying before you do. You will miss out!!! Regardless of what is going on in the stock market, real estate will always have value. While that value may take time to increase based on current markets, it will still increase. And at the end of the day, you own property. There was a time in our country when people fought wars to own land......and now that it is available on every corner.....people are scared.

With that said.....feel free to give me your thoughts.

A new year means a fresh start for Rome Area Council for the Arts. Tasty is probably the only way to describe a trio of delectable events planned throughout the new season.

Beginning Feb. 24, the series kicks off with "The Art of Chocolate" followed by "Jazz, Martinis and Tapas" in May and "Beer, Barbecue & Bluegrass" in September.

Cheryl Hodge is co-chair of the first event in the series. She said RACA's usual annual fundraiser, a wine-tasting and art auction called Fanfare, had run its course. And with membership and fundraiser accounting for the bulk of its operating budget, a new event had to take its place.

"We approached the board with the idea for the Art of Chocolate," Hodge said, "and they liked it. But they didn't want to put all our eggs in one basket. So the ‘Flavors of Rome' series was born."

With each event catering to a different taste, introducing their unique flavors and costing considerably less than Fanfare, RACA hopes to appeal to a wider audience.

The first item on the menu is "The Art of Chocolate" on Feb. 24, which will be held at the Forrest Place Ballroom.

"Thirteen local restaurants, caterers and bakers will create their most fabulous and delicious chocolate creations," Hodge said. "Guests will be able to sample all the chocolate creations and sip champagne. It's really a chocolate-tasting."

Musicians with the Rome Symphony Orchestra will provide music during the event and RACA's Southern Artist of the Year, Leah Hopkins Henry, will be displaying her paintings in the main ballroom.

Hodge will also be displaying her watercolors at the event as she and potter Julie Spector Windler, as well as Henry, have all created pieces specially for "The Art of Chocolate."

Visually stunning tablescapes are on the agenda as well. Each restaurant, caterer and bakery will be judged on their chocolate creation as well as on presentation. Prizes will be awarded for most creative dessert, best presentation and table display and the people's choice for best dessert. "The Art of Chocolate" takes place Feb. 24 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Forrest Place Ballroom on Broad Street. Tickets are $35 per person at the door. They can also be purchased in advance at the RACA office, La Scala restaurant, Traditions of Rome and Kroger.

Series tickets are available for $75 and there's a special dinner ticket for $100 which includes admission to any one event as well as a 4-course meal at La Scala following that event.

For additional information call the RACA office at 706-295-2787.
