For those of you who attended the Spoonbread Festival here in Berea Ky, thank you. It was a great 3 day event with lots of food, music, dance and exhibitions. We all worried about the weather, it was damp but the rain missed us and everyone had a great time. It is estimated that 15,000 people were here for the event. At the spoonbread tent we served up 264 pans of spoonbread, the smell of food and laughter was every where. The event closed with a visit from Elvis, and this alone was worth the trip. The 15 year old from Mt Vernon Ky did a great job.

13th Annual Spoonbread Festival

Fri Sept 18 - 3 to 8pm

Sat Sept 19 - 6am to 8pm

Sun Sept 20 - 10am to 5pm

Don't forget the Spoonbread Festival starts in Berea Ky in Memorial Park at 3pm. We are located at exit 76 or 77 on I 75. If you take exit 76 turn east towards town, follow Chestnut St to N Broadway on your left. Memorial Park is at the bottom of the hill on your right.

At exit 77 turn towards town and then right at the stoplight on Walnut Meadow and follow it until you see a school on your right (Berea Community) turn right on Ellipse St and you will see the festival on your right.

Hello again, I would like to invite you to Berea Kentucky for the 13th Annual Spoonbread Festival Sept 18 - 20. This three day event is packed with exhibitors, entertainment and actives. For those of you who don't know what spoonbread is, well here we go. It is a southern dish and considered the most delicious of all corn meal breads. I was first introduced the dish at the Boon Tavern Hotel here in Berea where spoonbreads been served for many years. The recipe's been traced to the early 1800s and many variations use baking soda and or sugar while others use neither. Any way it goes spoonbread is delicious and this year I will be serving spoonbread we make our self. The 13th annual Spoonbread Festival will be held will be held Friday September, 18 at 3:00pm in Memorial Park in Berea Ky. This is a weekend event ending Sunday September 20th at 5:00pm.
