Damascus is an unincorporated and a census-designated city of Montgomery County in Maryland. The unique name of the city came from the reference in Bible and this name was first time officially used in 1816.

Another worth mentioning demographic advantage and highlight of

the city is its location at the intersection of the two major roads i.e. Ridge Road (Rt.27) and Damascus Road (Rt.108).

The deepest concern and longing for the education can be seen from strong educational program at Damascus High School. Apart from deep rooted and engrained education program, another popularity of the school is its championship athletic team, the Swarmin’Hornets.

This school is managing meritoriously, both the curricular and extra-curricular activities, which is the best part according to me. What do you believe? Damascus public library is also having reservoirs of great literary collection.

Damascus Commercial center is also a source of attraction not only for the locals but also for the nearby communities.

Another highlight of the city is Damascus Heritage Society Museum, which is full of historical artifacts with rich information about the roots. It is the attraction for both young and old.

Damascus Recreational Park is the best site of attraction and highlight for the people, masses belonging to all ages visit this place for recreation and enjoyment and entertainment.

About Damascus MD

The area currently known as Damascus was granted by the new state of Maryland to Nathaniel Pigman in 1783. On February 14, 1819, War of 1812 veteran named Edward Hughes bought a 40-acre (160,000 m2) section of the grant and began subdividing lots for sale. James Madison, the fourth U.S. President, appointed Hughes postmaster of the developing community of Damascus in 1816.[
