If you've ever wondered what it would be like to soar among the trees, then have we got a surprise for you! Introducing the new Flying Squirrel Canopy Tour! This is the first challenge course canopy tour of its kind in the Deep Creek Lake area offering amazing tree-top views, agility challenges and 5 breathtaking zips from 180 feet to over 400 feet!
Your Flying Squirrel experience begins with a ride up the Bear Claw Conveyor Carpet. After unloading, you'll begin the practice / training segment of the tour where you will learn to clip in and out, get comfortable in your harness and acclimate yourself to take flight! Scurrying up the Cargo Net is the first challenge you'll face. Once secured on the first platform, a 195-foot zip will send you to the next challenge - a Burma Bridge. Navigate this 3-point rope bridge carefully to the next platform and prepare for the next zip which is approximately 153 feet. Catch your breath and get ready to walk the plank - the Plank Bridge that is. Once across, the next zip will transport you to the highest point of the course at approximately 50 feet high! Views of Deep Creek Lake will appear in the distance and you'll face the longest of 2 zips in the tour that span 400 feet across the tubing hill into a thicket of pine trees. Next you'll zip back across and land on the final stage, the 30-foot high Guard's Tower. From here you will take the Leap of Faith back down to solid ground to complete the Flying Squirrel Canopy Tour at Wisp Resort!

The newest craze in transportation and touring, offered at Deep Creek Lake's Wisp Resort, are Segway Tours. The Segway is an upright, self-balancing people mover. The movie, Bart The Mall Cop featured the Segway and so did the movie 10MPH. In the movie 10MPH, two guys quit their corporate jobs to take a road trip across America, on a Segway, traveling 10 MPH.
My husband Ted has been exploring Deep Creek Lake since 20008, at 12 1/2 MPH and folks on the mountain call him the Segway Man. Ted has logged over 4500 miles on his personal Segway. What a fun way to explore Deep Creek Lake and support efforts of going green!
Basic Tour $39.00 1 hour
Advanced Tour $79.00 2 hour

The Whitewater course at Deep Creek Lake is such fun and a must try! It is just another great reason to come to Deep Creek Lake and play!
Test your timing, reflexes and teamwork on the world's only adjustable whitewater sports venue that offers class I - IV whitewater in a "controlled" environment without typical river hazards such as downed trees (strainers), undercut rocks and places for foot entrapment. We do, however, educate you about those hazards for your overall knowledge of river safety, enjoyment and awareness.
ASCI's "conveyor" conveniently transports you from the finish pond to start pool, eliminating the hassles and time spent on vehicle shuttles from take-out to put-in with traditional whitewater experiences.
ASCI is a premier learning and training center for whitewater rafting and kayaking. Expert guides, instructors and former U.S. Team members on staff ensure high quality and consistent teaching methods

Inn at Deep Creek - Oakland, Maryland
We had the pleasure of staying at the recently and beautifully remodeled Inn at Deep Creek last weekend. We have stayed several times at this location over the last 10 years. Previously called Alpine Village Inn, the new owners have completely remodeled the Inn.
The Inn at Deep Creek is located on the waterfront of Deep Creek Lake. The lake has 69 miles of shoreline and is 13 miles long. The Inn offers a beach and floating docks for fishing or the boating enthusiast.
Deep Creek Lake offers year round activities. Besides the lake with its many offerings, Deep Creek also offers The Wisp Ski Resort. The Wisp with a " world renowned energy-efficient snowmaking system and over 100 inches of annual snowfall in Garrett County, Wisp's 132 acres of ski terrain provide snowsport enthusiasts an incredible winter playground. Non-skiers and boarders won't be left out, in fact, they'll have as much trouble deciding what to do next with all that Wisp Resort and the Deep Creek Lake area have to offer: mountain coaster, cross country skiing, snowshoeing, snowmobiling, fly fishing and more." *

Every time we make contact with someone we have the opportunity to make their day better. It may be with our families, our co workers, customers, or the grocery store clerk, but in some way or another we make contact with someone every day. You never know what someone else is going through or when they could use a smile or a kind word. We may not always realize it, but having patience and taking the time to listen to someone can mean more than you know. It is not always easy to be nice to others, but the benefit to those around you and to yourself is well worth it.
Giving your time and undivided attention is the most important aspect of being nice. Everyone has been ignored and knows the feeling of not being considered important. When you have the opportunity to give someone your attention it is a great opportunity to be nice.
