The first contact is usually via phone. It's a time to listen and find out what is your motivation to sell your home. Are you upsizing, downsizing, relocating or just ready for a change........Lets meet!

We set the date for me to meet you at your home. Prior to that I will send you my pre-listing presentation this will give you a good feel for the services I offer. I will also send you my current market resume indicating the homes that I have sold. You can clearly see that my agressive marketing plan gets homes sold.

The first meeting: We schedule a meeting at your home. You invite me in to evaluate, give advice and see what needs to be done to market your home. Set aside about an hour for this meeting.
First I want you to show me your home. I will take notes and listen. I will ask you many questions as we take the tour. Why did you initially select this house? What qualities did you see that attracted you? What really promoted you to buy this home?

Then the details! What have you done to the house since the purchase? What upgrades and updates have you completed since you have owned the house?

Lets look at the local activity ~ Looking at the past sold homes in your neighborhood is important. Reviewing the active homes is also a factor to your home sale........HOWEVER, unless you are listing your home tomorrow, these comps are NOT relevant TODAY. Determining the list price for your home is done the DAY BEFORE YOU LIST YOUR HOME.
At this meeting we can talk about a ballpark number, but the actual list price will depend on how many other competing active listings are on the market.
What do you think your home is worth? Here is where we see if your goals are realistic.

Lets talk numbers ~ We don't know your listing price, but with that ball park figure we can run the numbers. How many mortgages do you have? How much do you owe on your home? Can you afford to sell your home?
Maryland is one of the more expensive States to sell a home in. A net sheet will determine if you will walk away from the settlement with money or need to come to the table with a check! Keep in mind the variables that can affect your bottom line.

The "Mayor" of Ellicott City celebrates his 70th Birthday

Fernand Tersiguel is not officially an elected Mayor of Ellicott City (There is no longer such governmental position), but his awesome Howard County Restaurant, Tersiguels, located in the heart of the Historic district in Ellicott City was once the residence of the Ellicott City mayor......he was also the local dentist too. Fernand, is known by Howard County residents for his local participation, wonderful generosity and dedication to the community. There are many adults and children who attended school in Howard County who remember the class excursion to the local French restaurant and drank "Bug Juice".

Today, Monday March 12th, this wonderful man turns the ripe age of 70. Although he officially retired a few years ago and handed over the responsibilities to Michel, his son, he can still be found on weekends welcoming diners. True to form his special milestone Birthday party is an opportunity to raise money for a charity close to Fernand's heart.

This evening Tersiguils will be closed for general dining. Instead a lavish coctail party will occur from 6pm till 10pm. Reservations are required. Call 410-465-4004 to join in the fun. The cost is $70.00 inclusive of food beverages, tax and gratuity.

"Rams Head Goes Irish on St. Patrick's Day With A Huge Party!"

The Rams Head locations are known for their great parties - the 2012 St. Patrick's day events promise to be no different. The only difficulty you may have is deciding which Rams Head to visit!

The Annapolis locations, the Rams Head Tavern on 33 West Street and the Rams Head Roadhouse on Generals Hwy, will kick off the celebrations at noon with tent parties!

All locations will have drink specials starting with 50 cents for a Guiness from noon to 1 pm and $3 for a Green Beer while supplies last. Naturally, traditional Irish fare will complement the menu at all Restaurant locations.

Live entertainment is also lined up for each location from noon until close. My personal favorite is the Rams Head Tavern at Savage Mill - it's such a fantastic setting ... and said to be haunted!

The Rams Head Tavern is a great place to visit all year round, with Happy Hour Specials, plenty of live entertainment, Jazz Brunch Sundays and Military Appreciation Night on Thursdays (for active-duty SVC MBRs, specials start at 8pm). If you have never visited, St. Patrick's Day this year may be the perfect day to do that ... Rams Head Goes Irish!

Change Your Clock – Change Your Battery- March 11th 2012

In anticipation of daylight savings time beginning in the wee hours of the morning on March 11th, remember to “Change Your Clock – Change Your Battery” in both smoke alarms and carbon monoxide (CO) detectors in your homes. Working smoke alarms and CO detectors double a family’s chance of surviving a home fire and/or unsafe carbon monoxide levels in the home.

While you are making the changes and adding new batteries to your smoke alarm and carbon monoxide detector this weekend, use the “extra” hour you save to:

· Dust or vacuum smoke alarms when you change the batteries.

· Push the test button and test alarms once a month using the test button.

· Replace the entire alarm if it's more than 10 years old or doesn't work properly when tested.

· Install smoke alarms on every level of your home, including the basement, and both inside and outside of sleeping areas.

· Interconnect all smoke alarms throughout your home so that when one sounds, they all sound. Interconnected alarms are available at most stores that sell smoke alarms.

· Make sure everyone in your home understands the warning of the smoke alarm and knows how to respond.

· Prepare and practice two escape plans so that you and your loved ones can get out of your home safely in the event of a fire.

· Plan to meet in a place a safe distance from the fire and where first responders can easily see you.

Being prepared can be the life or death difference.
