The Bath Maine Real Estate residential markets in the month ending October 31st 2008 saw 10 transactions take place including both single family and condo sales. The average sold price was 137K which was 17% off of a year priors average sales price of 166K and down 9% month over month from September. In October 2007 11 transactions transpired and thus Bath Maine housing volume remained flat year over year but given the small sample size, % flucuations will be large.
This report is brought to you by John Herrigel, a coastal maine real estate agent serving the greater Portland and lower mid coast regions of the state.

Happy 4th of July all and as I return from a 7 month sailing excursion www.caribbeanendeavour.com I find myself re-enthused to enter the world of blogging. This past weekend Bath Maine hosted their annual 4th of July Heritage Days extravaganza. "What a town" I always find myself saying during this weekend. The street side vendors, the 5 mile road race, fireworks, live music, it has it all. I wish I had some pictures to provide but take a look at the large and all encompassing photo gallery from www.visitBath.com here.
For a Maine mid coast town less than 45 minutes to Portland... the real estate is affordable, the quality of life is high!!

Well folks, it's that's time of year again. Just when it's getting light early enough for me to stumble my way to
the coffeepot without finding the light-switch, daylight savings time rears it's ugly head. So I guess I'll be setting my clocks back an hour on Saturday night. But, looking on the bright side, that means spring is on it's way. Really..it will get here. In celebration of the coming Spring , the town of Bath is holding a special event on Friday, March 21st from 6pm-9pm. Under the light of a full moon, Main Street in Bath will come alive with live music, various street performers, excellent food, and wandering astronomers! The wandering astronomers will be prowling the streets to give shoppers, children, and anyone who's interested a peek at the Universe! More than 20 stores will stay open late...many offering Moonlight Madness sales....and Gina Hamilton (Editor of The Coastal Journal) will be at City Hall sharing star stories. Remember the Banners Over Bath that appeared in a previous post? Those are complete and will
be proudly displaying the Celestial Navigation theme from every lamppost in Bath. So join us for what is guaranteed to be a rousing time under the full moon!
And don't forget to set your clocks backs on Saturday night....wouldn't want you to be late to the party!

Old Indian names are not lost on bodies of water here. All within close proximity to the coast are lakes or ponds named Pemaquid, Megunticook, Sennebec, Chickawaukie, and Quantabacook. Also find a string of ponds - South Pond, North Pond, and Seven Tree Pond - a pond for baseball fans - Pitcher Pond - and, for opera buffs, Swan Lake.
However your taste might run in Maine waterfront real estate, you're likely to find what you want here. With the added benefit of accessing all that mid-coast Maine has to offer in activities and amenities, this location is hard to beat.
Lakefront Locator will get you to available listings in the Mid-Coast Region. LakeSmart, is a research tool that will give you important information about area lakes.
If you have a question or need a friend in the business let us know. We love Maine's lakes and ponds and want to share them with you.

Looking for something to do? Need an indoor activity to occupy the kids? Well...have I got a place for you! In Bath, Maine...like in many small towns...we try to provide as many activities for our young people as possible. A safe place for them to hang out with friends, see a movie, and maybe even get some exercise. One such place is the Bath Youth Meetinghouse and Skatepark. Yes...it is the largest indoor skatepark in Maine. But even if you don't enjoy skateboarding, there's still plenty to do in the meetinghouse! For example, you could....
Bring your bike! There are specific times when you can bring your bike to try out the ramps,
bowls, and half-pipes!
See a movie! The theater features surround sound and 15' x 24' viewable screen! Plus, the kids pick the movie!
Attend a concert! Yup...it even has a concert hall Check the website to view past concerts and upcoming concert dates.
Hang out in The Garage! The Garage is a resource and hang-out area. It is currently under construction, but should be ready by spring! Here you'll find games, computers with connections to the internet, and a low-key hang out space. The Garage will also provide 2 counselors...for kids who want some help with life's tricky issues.
While you're visiting be sure to enjoy the hang-out lobby with games, treats at the cafe, the free internet-cafe, or sign up for a course at the multimedia center.
The Bath Youth Meetinghouse and Skatepark is a great place to hang out...especially on a winter day! Drop in the next time you're in town...you might catch me on the 1/2 pipe! Okay...you won't see me on a skateboard...but you will have a great time!
