Troy, MI - The housing market has plummeted by at least 25% in the last year; the stock market has dropped even more! Times are tough and they say the worst is yet to come. How will real estate specialists survive? Can they prosper in these difficult times? These issues will be addressed; questions will be answered by a panel of experts who are successful in real estate investing today.

Jeff will show how to add thousands to your cash flow, establish top market rental rates, increase cash flow when showing vacancies, have residents want to pay you more, which amenities generate the most cash flow, how to raise rents while keeping tenants happy and making maximum income even at the end of the rental relationship. Most importantly, Jeff will show how to protect yourself and your investments as a landlord, recognize the 9 most costly landlord mistakes, resident selection criteria and fair housing, vital questions to ask every applicant, identify problem residents before they move in, avoid future problems through communication, eliminate costly surprises during the year, 10 essential clauses to include in your lease, and how to avoid retaliation when tenants are evicted.

"The stockings were hung by the chimney with care..."

There's no doubt that right now is one of the best times to buy a home in all of history. A lot of people wanting to sell right now may be hesitant because of the holidays, or because of cold, snowy weather. Traditional thinking people may even argue that homes only sell in the Spring and Summer months.
I challenge them with these thoughts...
When does your home look it's best? Most people's homes during the holiday season are kept immaculately clean (for those guests that'll arrive any minute) and decorated fabulously! The smells of roasted Chex Mix, mixed with pine and holiday feasts... who can think of a more welcoming smell?
I think as long as you keep the decorations classy and sensible, and don't go overboard (as a lot of us tend to do!) the holiday season is THE BEST time to sell!
I've sold many homes that were charming to begin with, but I showed them during the holidays and buyers are awed by the charm of the season!
So don't think that just because it's Winter that you should wait to sell until Spring. Deck the halls and put on some classic holiday music and wait for the buyers to come!

If you need help decorating for the holidays, consult a professional home stager,
interior designer or your Realtor!

Mixx Salon and Spa in downtown Rochester Michigan recently hosted a "Top Secret Haircessory" event with Denise Rossouw, founder of Top Secret Haircessory from Los Angeles, California. The public was invited for a consultation with Ms. Rossouw who demonstrated her 100% human hair alternatives for individuals suffering from fine, thinning hair due to genetics, medical treatment or hormone imbalances. Not limited to just a physical or medical need for thicker hair, many people came to just try on a new look. Many women just want a change in color, style, volume or highlights-with little maintenance or time. As Ms. Rossouw illustrates in the video - "four snaps to look 10 years younger".
One of the main objectives of the evening was the "Hollywood Hair Award" where they were donating a hairpiece (valued over $500) to a woman suffering from hair loss or thinning due to medical treatment or health condition. The other main criterion in selecting a winner was based on financial hardship. The candidates they had for the "Hollywood Hair Award" did not meet their charity guidelines so the nomination deadline has been extended until 5PM, Monday, January 16. The Hollywood Hair Award ceremony will be 7 pm, Jan. 30 at the Mixx Salon & Spa. Nominees can submit a paragraph as to why they should be selected based on physical and financial need. The award recipient will get a free hair consultation with Cheryl Collins, a cosmetic application with Mixx Salon & Spa by make-up artist Carolyn Hojnowski and take home a custom-fitted and styled Top Secret hairpiece.
After experiencing hair loss from medical treatment, Cheryl Collins, owner of Mixx Salon, became motivated to help others suffering from FINE OR THINNING HAIR or hair that never grows to desired length. She is committed to helping them look and feel their best. "What I love most is that no one knows it [the hair piece] is not mine," she says. And for those that just want a longer look, hair extensions are great along with a "Top Secret Haircessory". Mixx Salon and Spa is one of three salons in Michigan to carry the hairpieces.

The Big, Bright Light Show in Downtown Rochester is an annual event where the local businesses get together to create a spectacular holiday light display which covers Main Street from the South Bridge to University. The display consists of holiday LED lights every four inches and the storefronts are already preparing to shine brightly again. The display kicks off Monday, December 1 at 6PM. The Big, Bright Light Show starts with the official lighting at 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 1 during the 36th Annual Lagniappe event. Lights will be on every night from 6 p.m. to midnight through Jan. 4, 2009. The light show also features the return of the Snowflake Spectacular on Water Street, the Dancing Tree of Lights on East University Drive and Candy Cane Lane on Walnut Blvd., for a grand total of over one million lights.
The spectacular lights are not limited to the downtown area. Many residences create fabulous light shows of their own. First enjoy a drive or walk through downtown Rochester and then drive throughout some of the suburbs of Rochester Hills. There is one home in particular that starts hanging lights and decorating months in advance. Just drive down Teinkein going east from Main street and you cannot miss it on the south side of the road.
Don't miss the 2008 parade which will be held on Sunday, December 7th, at 1:45 PM, and includes dignitaries, bands, children's group, community organizations and local businesses. The parade is also broadcast live on WXYZ-TV Channel 7.
