The True/False Film Festival comes to Columbia, Missouri

Jennifer Hartwick: Real Estate Agent in Columbia, MO

This weekend, THE entertainment in Columbia will be the nonfiction film festival, the True/False Film Festival. Films from Sundance, Toronto and other festivals will be showcased in a boutique festival with a down-home flea market flair. True/False continues to bring together smart, impassioned and forward-thinking filmmakers with the best audiences in the world.

All of the venues are within blocks of each other and all events take place in the heart of downtown Columbia. The main venues are the Blue Note, the soon-to-open, two-screen Ragtag Cinema, the Forrest Theater at the Tiger Ballroom, as well as Stephens College's Macklanburg Playhouse, Windsor Auditorium and its little sister theater, The Den (normally called Charters Auditorium).

Once again, Cherry St. Artisan serves as the festival box office and headquarters, and it's your first stop to pick up your pre-ordered passes and ticket packages. For those who don't have passes, it's your first place to purchase individual tickets starting on Feb. 28.

The updated schedule is now available on the True/False website http://www.truefalse.org/

The film I look forward to the most? It's a tie between Joy Division and My Mothers Garden

Joy Division is the true story of the legendary band whose improbable ; brief rise may well have ressusicated the dying industrial town of Manchester, England.

AND

My Mothers Garden is the story of the filmaker's mom whose desire to hoard objects has become a dangerous disorder, making it neccesary for her family to intervene.

I know most that read this won't care too much about Columbia, MO, however, I just had the BEST meal of my life. I lived in the Chicago area for many year as a newlywed. My husband and I sampled various places and I must say this is BEST MEAL I HAVE HAD IN MY LIFE CC City Broiler on Forum in Columbia, MO. It was an excellent meal in a quick time frame. We were in an out in one hour and 15 minutes. I had the filet which was pheonomenoal! If you are in Columbia, or from Columbia you must check this out. The steak I had alone was $32.++ but well worth every penny! The salad was exceptional and the service was very professional! Now I know what doctor candidates are taken there for dinner interviews.

Go Tigers!

Jason Corrado: Real Estate Agent in Columbia, MO

The Mizzou Tigers are an amazing football team. They have come a long way since I became a fan in the 80's . They briefly were number one in the nation this year only losing to Oklahoma (twice) and our QB was nominated for the Heisman trophy. It just so happens that I practice Real Estate here in Columbia,Mo . Home of the University of Missouri and the home of the tigers. The admissions are up 20% at the University and the national spotlight was briefly on our town of 98,000 or so residents.

It will be interesting to see the effects of a nationally ranked college football team on the market for new people and businesses coming to town. I will keep everyone posted!
