‘Twas the night before Christmas, When all through Real Estate Partners, LLC,

Things were really quiet, no phones not a client;

The files were put up in the cabinets with care,

In hopes that Christmas Day soon would be there;

Steve resting comfortably using the bench for a bed ,

While visions of happy families in new homes danced in his head;

And Judy on the phone and Jane at the fax machine,

Were just getting ready to go home for the night.

When out in the parking lot there rose such a clatter,

Steve sprang from his “bed” to see what was the matter.

Away to the windows they flew like a flash,

Steve, Judy & Jane all made a mad dash.

The moon on the breast of the new-falling snow

Gave the luster of mid-day to vehicles in tow.

When, what do their wondering eyes should appear,

But a Mini Cooper, with several lights on the rear.

With a little ole driver, so lively and quick,

I knew in a moment it must be our Nick.

More rapid than an eagle he drove to our place,

And he whistled and shouted and told us what’s about to take place!

“Unbelievable Low Interest Rates, New Low Mortgage Solutions, Owner Financing, Tax Credits for Energy Efficient Improvements and USDA Rural Development Loans! Low MS Veterans Loans Too!”

From the front of the parking lot to the end of it all!

Take advantage! Take advantage! Now take advantage ya’ll !”

As dry leaves that before the wild hurricane fly,

When they meet with an obstacle mount to the sky,

So up out of the parking lot in his Cooper he flew,

With the lights on the back flashing and Nick saying “You Hoo!”

Nick driving off we heard him give a whistle,

And he drove out of sight like the down of a thistle.

But I heard him exclaim, as he drove out of sight,

“Merry Christmas Homebuyers, Be In Your Dream Home for the New Year, Happy Holidays and good night.”

With the future of the economy still uncertain, and mortgage default notices being filed at breakneck speed, is there any reason to be optimistic about the real estate market today?

I guess that would all depend on who you are. For investors who can get their hands on some cash, this is a great market to be in. As the pendulum of supply and demand continues to swing higher and higher on the supply side, prices will continue to fall, which equals a great buying opportunity.

And not only that, but as more and more people are being displaced from their homes, the demand for rental property increases. Of course you, as the investor/landlord, will have to relax your rental qualifications some as many will have a foreclosure or default on their credit report.

Overall, it is still an unfortunate situation we find ourselves in. But for those who are able to take advantage of the situation, yet do not, only adds to the level of misfortune. The only way to turn this thing around, and for homes to start appreciating again, is to reduce the supply of inventory.

Why Can’t People Be More Like My Emily?

I’ve been racking my brain trying to come up with something to say to start posting to my blog, besides just my new listings.  Then Emily touched my heart one day recently.  Emily is our friend and companion.  She is our dog, a Brussels Griffon. 

I had lost my Mother this year.  A very difficult time for my family, especially for my sister as she was my Mother’s caregiver for many years.  My Mother’s passing left her devastated.  On top of that, I live so far away from her that it was difficult for me to console her.  Lots of phone calls back and forth for awhile. 

Recently I had a Birthday.  My family decided to throw a surprise party for me.  Family and friends started arriving from all over, including my sister.  Emily loved every minute of the excitement.  I had thought not being use to all the company she would have stayed away, but she didn’t.  She made new friends and enjoyed the moments. 

At the end of the day, my sister, who was staying with me, decided to retire for the evening.  Emily followed her into the bedroom.  I felt Emily might want to stay with her for the night.  Emily always sleeps with me, but she seemed eager to be with my sister.  I left Emily on her back with her head on the pillow beside my sister that night.

The next morning I got up to make coffee.  Usually Emily gets up with me, but this particular morning she didn’t.  I peaked in on her, and there she was awake quietly waiting for my sister to wake up.  Did she know my sister was hurting?  Did she know my sister needed comforting?  I guess I will never know for sure, but she didn’t move until my sister got up.

To be cared for unconditionally, to be loyal no matter what.  To be sensitive to the needs of others.  This is Emily.  Why can’t people be more like her?
