Every 4th of July, the award winning town of Apex, North Carolina hosts their annual Olde Fashioned 4th of July Celebration.
This year will be no exception as many events are planned to make this year's celebration even better!
The day's events, which run from 9AM until 1PM, will be held right in the heart of town, on Salem Street, include the"Parade of Wheels", starring Uncle Sam and children from Apex and beyond! Live music will fill the air and there will be lots of carnival games, rides, a climbing wall and a giant slide. Clowns and jugglers will also be on hand to provide some of the day's entertainment.
At noon, when it's time to cool off, the Apex Fire Department will lead the way with, what is certain to put smiles on everyone's faces, the Splash Down!
And don't forget to head on over to the Koka Booth Amphitheatre, just a few miles away in Cary, as the sun begins to go set to watch the fireworks show. Gates open at 3 and there is a full schedule of events planned. Lawn seating is FREE!
The weather is predicted to be hot, but no rain is forecast! So stop on by to help celebrate America's birthday. Once you're here, you'll discover why I've been proud to call this little patch of America, home!

Apex, North Carolina, a tiny suburb just minutes from downtown Raleigh, is a great little town located in the Southwest portion of Wake County. Known as the "The Peak of Good Living", Apex has grown to nearly 30,000 people, but never forgot the small town charm that made it such a desirable place to call home.
Incorporated in 1873, Apex was named for its location as the highest point on the Chatham Railroad line which ran from Richmond, Virginia down to Jacksonville, Florida.
In keeping with its rich tradition as one of the oldest railroad towns in North Carolina, Apex’s Chamber of Commerce building is a renovated model of the original train depot.
Residents of Apex used to have to go to neighboring Cary for much of their shopping needs. But the recent creation of the Beaver Creek Shopping Center has put a halt to that. With nationally recognized stores, restaurants and even a multiplex movie theater, the Beaver Creek Shopping Center is as busy as can be.
In 2007, CNN/Money magazine voted Apex 14th on its list of the nation's top 100 small towns to live in! Award winning schools, medical facilities and our great weather just go to prove that Apex really is the Peak of Good Living!
So, if you’ve been thinking about relocating to the Raleigh/ Cary/ Apex area, send me an email or drop me a line. I’ll be happy to answer your questions and help you in the quest to find your new home!

Is Veridea a timely venture?
I guess the financiers and the market will determine, if the Town of Apex approves the project.
"Double the tax base," "30,000 jobs," "8,000 homes," multiple millions of square feet of offices, shops, manufacturing. 10-15 year project window.
Immmediate concerns are water supply, and of course green space and environmental considerations.
I think the next leg of 540 is absolutely critical to project completion and success, but may well make it a winner.

Edited 6/11 to add/insert:
Well, "Correction is good for the soul."
Yesterday, I received an email from Lauren Simmons, Apex Town Planner.
It seems I failed to read the fine print as well as I might.
The maps posted below show the I-540/Salem Street Small Area Plan, as developed by the Town of Apex.
The proposed Veridea is not part of that plan, and does not even abut that plan.
The Veridea assemblage is south of US 1 and west of NC 55, while the I-540/Salem Street Small Area Plan straddles the Old US 1 corridor, a mile or so northwest of Veridea.
This map shows one of the tracts to be incorporated into the proposed Veridea project. Zoom out and click around to discover other holding of HH Development, and you will begin to flesh out the scope of Veridea.
What can I say?
"My bad..."
#1 ranking in Google for search term "Veridea" and in error.
Shucks.
________________________________________________________________________________________________
The Town of Apex website has had a file posted on the small area plan that includes Veridea (WRONG). It includes maps of the area, and the proposed project.
Good studying for anyone who is interested.
