Hickory NC Rotary club has announced dates for its musical fundraiser, ROTARIAN IDOL. The event will be held Saturday, March 17, 2012 at 7 pm in PE Monroe Auditorium on the campus of Lenoir-Rhyne University. Auditions will be held at The SALT Block Auditorium January 26, 2012 from 6-9 pm and January 29, 2012 from 2-5 pm.

There is no limit to age or place of residence, but professional singers will not be allowed to audition. A $5 fee is required.

Monies raised will be used to benefit education throughout Catawba County; as well as local, national and international humanitarian efforts.

This years Polar Plunge and Torch Run will be hosted by the Hickory Police Department to benefit the Special Olympics of North Carolina. It will be Saturday February 11, 2012 at the Wittenburg Wildlife Access in the Bethlehem Community of Lake Hickory.

Registration starts at 11:00am and the Plunge starts at 1:00pm. The minimum donation to participate in the Plunge is $50.00.

Get friends, enemies, in-laws, outlaws, co-workers, and others to particiapte or sponsor you to raise your plunge donation.

One day in 1999, he saw an ad that said "Get your real estate license - will be paid for", so he did, and became a Realtor, even though a few months earlier, he had no idea what that even was. Jimmy is with Keller-Williams in Mooresville, NC, and also owns a Japanese restaurant and works as a translator.

One of Jimmy's inspirations is Oprah Winfrey - he was struck when reading her book that she credited her success to being surrounded by exceptional people. That struck a chord with Jimmy and is why he joined AR - to learn from those more experienced than himself.
