Street view - cool new feature in Google

You may already know about this already, but in case not, goto google maps and type in a home address, include city and state. Once Google finds the location, you will see a tab called "street view", a little man figure will appear at the location, click the figure and the neighborhood will pop up in a separate window. Then you will be able to scroll 360 degrees and pan all over the neighborhood. You can also drag the little man figure to another street. The "street view" feature is not available for all streets yet, Google is rolling out this feature for new areas everyday. If the streets are hilited in blue, then this feature is available.

If you find a home that you like, this is a great way to check out the surroundings in the neighborhood. It can save gas and time, it may reveal things in the neighborhood that you do not desire.

High Rock Lake Living

Living on High Rock Lake is great! There are a couple of draw backs though. First it is a long commute to nearby big cities. Second, there are not a lot of local choices when it comes to food and shopping. Speaking of food I have to give a plug for Southern BBQ in Southmont, they have great service and awesome food.

Thats about all the drawbacks... The good stuff is everything else! The summer is great since you can play on and in the water. Fishing is some of the best around. I think the winter is one of my favorite times to be living on the lake. The boat traffic is very slim and if you go out on a weekday, it is like having the whole lake to yourself. Also, I see more wildlife like the Bald Eagle I saw last summer.

This is a great time to buy on the lake also since intrest rates are down and buyers have a lot of homes to choose from. Also, investors are getting their fill as they buy houses now while prices are low and plan to sell them again when the market picks up again.
