Springtime Marvin NC equestrian events show the Village of Marvin's emphasis on maintaining its heritage of rural acreage devoted to horse farms. The Fourth Annual Marvin Area Recreational Equine Show or MARES 2009 will take place on April 4th from 10am to 3pm at 9705 Joe Kerr Road. Horses will be the stars of the event with interesting demonstrations and activities for young and old.
Highlights of this Marvin NC equestrian event include hay rides, miniature horses, pony rides, games and crafts for kids, a Parade of Breeds, a Paso Fino demonstration, the Waxhaw Mounted Patrol, a Mecklenburg Hounds demonstration, and the Equine Rescue League. Families can purchase food at the event or bring a picnic and blanket to enjoy the day.
Another Marvin NC equestrian event is the Mecklenburg Hounds Bluegrass and BBQ Bash. The Bash will take place on April 18th and supports this fox hunting club as well as the equestrian trail building efforts of Marvin.
Marvin NC is located in the western corner of Union County NC, North Carolina's number one county in the number of horses. Marvin is trying to preserve its equestrian heritage by adopting one house per acre zoning throughout the village and has created a green way plan that will incorporate equestrian trails. Marvin and the rest of Union County have plenty of space to find your own horse farm or equestrian community to call home.
