What You Need to Know About Being a Local in Mocksville, NC

What you need to know to be a local in Mocksville, NC

If you are like most of the world you are no stranger to having to relocate. There is always a learning curve when you move to a new area. You struggle to fit in quickly, learn your way around, and learn all the local customs. If you are looking at Mocksville homes for sale then you will encounter these same issues. As a person who grew up in Mocksville I thought I would write this post to make it easier for people moving to the area.

Here are a few things you need to know when moving to Mocksville, NC:

1) The term "redneck" is typically a term of endearment. Please be sure to note there is a distinct difference between country people and rednecks. Country people are resourceful, helpful, friendly, and generally nice folks. Rednecks can be similar but they can also be more...excitable.

2) The Bull Hole is a public park not anything to be feared. This was a former testing ground for the youth's four wheel drives. Now, however, it is a public park by the river and really worth a visit. There is a dam on the South Yadkin River where the Cooleemee Mill once was located.

3) There is only one High School for the entire county. Davie High is a great school (but overcrowded) and is the center of some very hot debates. Meanwhile, the War Eagles move forward in athletics and academics. Likewise, Friday night football is a countywide gathering of the people.Mocksville NC Homes for sale

4) If you ever need to find someone from the Mocksville area plan a trip to Wal-Mart over the weekend. This is the best way to see the majority of the population of the area, or get to know the community. If you did not find who you were looking for at Wal-Mart, then try Miller's Resteraunt.

5) Want something fun to do? Well, if you purchase one of the Mocksville homes for sale you either will be fishing, hunting, four wheeling, or staying at home. Aside from a few great places to eat there are not a lot of entertainment activities. The great news is that Winston Salem, Statesville, And Salisbury are all just a short commute away and blossoming with things to do.

All kidding aside Mocksville really is a great place to live. The people are friendly, and the area boasts a rural feel with big city convenience. Mocksville homes for sale are popular since the taxes are slightly lower and the commute to the city is short.

I was raised here and graduated from the school system. I even taught Science at Davie High for a while. I can attest to the fact that Mocksville is one of the best places to live anywhere in the Triad. Feel Free to contacy me at Keller Williams Realty if you have questions or just want to know more about Mocksville homes for sale.

"We want our new home to have a look that is functional but also aesthetically pleasing," my Asheville friends who are about to relocate reported.  "You know Dad's in his wheelchair these days and he'll be moving with us. He wants to roll on in to our new home with style. And Dad's determined to have a very nice, high-end bath that is totally accessible!"

Having experience with our own wheelchair-bound Dad, I understood exactly what they desired. And there are a number of such high-accessible design homes in Asheville that I could have shown them, but my friends have a son at Wake Forest University  in Winston-Salem, NC  and they want to be closer to him.

So it was time to put the word out to our REALTOR® colleagues in the Winston-Salem and Mocksville, NC   area., which is within a 25-or-so minute (easy) drive of the university. That was just the ticket. It wasn't long until I was previewing a remarkable property.

To me it is the perfect high-accessible design home. And the fact that it is just 20 minutes from Wake Forest University to Mocksville, NC makes great sense. (Far enough, but not too far.) Talk about "rolling in" to the new home in style! And there even is a classy tiled drive-in spa/bath.
