Iredell Statesville Schools will soon be opening Cloverleaf Elementary, K-5 on the corner of James Farm Road and Glenway Drive, two minutes from I40 in Statesville, NC. I have been watching this school go up since it started construction last spring. It is on my way to the Wal-Mart shopping center at exit 150 off I40. This school will be replacing Northview Elementary and Ebenezer Elementary. It is going to open this fall of 2009. Here are some interesting facts for you.
1) This is a magnate school. Applications are being taken until the end of March for enrollment.
2) This is a science, math and technological school. There will be interactive boards in each room. There will be active science labs with each child getting a 45 minute session each week. This will be completely hands-on experiences where they will be growing terrariums for example and conducting experiments.
3) The school has the capacity for an 850 student enrollment. Right now the projected enrollment from the two schools it is replacing is 615. So put in your applications right away.
4) Kids will begin arriving at school between 7:00 am and 7:30 am. and will be dismissed at 2:00 pm.
5) There are two outlets for the school. One on James Farm Road and the other on Glenway Drive which will help with traffic control.
The principal, Wayne Harwell is quoted as saying, "This is technologically loaded school, with interactive boards in each classroom and a full-blown science lab."
I'm not sure how all the interactive boards and science labs work, since I didn't have those in school while I was growing up and they weren't available for my children. So for more answers on your questions please contact, the principal, Wayne Harwell, @ 704-873-7354.

Are you ready to visit Statesville, North Carolina? Do you need a place to stay, but aren't sure you really want to stay in a hotel? Then here is a little tip for you. Lady Jane's Bed and Breakfast is awesome! This 'mansion' sits in the country just five minutes from Interstate 40 and is the most comportable B & B I have found in town. Staying here is like living in a fairy tale. The grounds have walking trials, a koi pond and lots of greenery and privacy. It's like living on your own private estate.
Did I mention the food? Oh my word, you won't want to leave after eating the special breakfasts served here and you will definitely come back for lunch and dinner. Then you can relax on the verandas while catching a glimpse of the wildlife. I don't want to give away too much information. I want you to find out yourself how truly wonderful this place is by visiting. Please go to the website: www.ladyjanebandb.com to gather more information and to book your next stay.

Yeah Boy, now that's what I'm talking about! James Franco in Statesville, NC eating dinner at Carolina Bar-B-Q Friday night, January 2, 2009. (By the way, that lady is not me, but a waitress at the restaurant.) I was sitting watching TV when my son called me to let me know that Mr. Franco was sitting inside Carolina Bar-B-Q. I told him to get a pic and an autograph. So here it is. For those of you who do not know, James Franco starred as Harry Osborn in the Spider Man movies. He is also known for Freaks and Geeks. He is a very nice young man and very gracious to let himself be disturbed after dining for a picture with his fans. Thank you Mr. Franco for your kindness.
By the way, I have no idea why he is in town, but hope he enjoys it here. Also, Carolina Bar-B-Q is one of the best bar-b-q places in town on Salisbury Street. Visit, eat and enjoy the pics of the celebs who have visited here too!

I realize this is not the best pic in the world, but if you could see this Statesville home in person you would be very impressed with the colors and detail work. This beautiful home sits on a corner street in the Historic District of downtown Statesville. I watched this home being renovated over a period of time and saw an absolutely amazing transformation. Perhaps this is one more reason why I like living in Statesville. Since I have been here the last 17 years I have seen the residents take great care of the older buildings around town and keep a clean and friendly atmosphere of the downtown area. This is just one of the houses to view on a personal walking tour of the historic homes in Statesville, North Carolina. As you are walking around the blocks you will be awed by the beauty that surrounds you and how close to the business district you are.

Just look at the size of that foot! The one on the right, that is! She's big, (17h) she's dirty, but she's beautiful. At least, to me she is. This is my 'other job'. Training horses. When I'm not selling real estate in Statesville, or Mooresville, or even recently, in Huntersville or Cornelius, then you can find me at home on a horse. Which actually, amounts to about once a week. I raise them, I train them, I ride them and I drive them. All 'makes and models', from quarter horses, to appaloosas, tennessee walking horses, arabians, minis, and recently this percheron. Who I aptly named Tinker Bell.
She is bigger than anything else we have on the farm and I have a lot of fun with her. This is my down time and my passion. I also give riding lessons to children or adults who want to learn the basics of riding. I teach a student to walk, trot and canter and from there I find them another trainer who can take them to shows, because I don't have time for that sort of thing. The majority of my time is spent on my real estate business, but my horses give me a chance to collect my thoughts, take a breath and enjoy being me. We all need something that allows us to relax in order to be better professionals. Coming to Statesville sometime? Look me up and I'll introduce you to my crew.
