Gilford, NH

On July 3rd the beautiful and talented singer/pianist Diana Krall comes to the Meadowbrook Arts Center in Gilford, New Hampshire. I tell you this because as a music educator and lover of all forms of music, her brand of jazz is so sensitively performed. If you've heard or seen her DVD, "Live in Paris" you will know what I'm speaking of. This is just one more wonderful reason why living in the Lakes Region of New Hampshire lifts ones spirit day after day.

Bob Harding the owner of Meadowbrook US Cellular Pavilion in Gilford, NH hosted a party on Sunday at Meadowbrook in celebration of his life. You see, Bob was diagnosed lung cancer a year ago. He thought "What good is it to come see me when I'm in the ground and can't talk to you?" He also said that the Irish have a tradition of doing things like this. The concert venue he built over 10 years ago was filled with over 300 family, friends and business associates. Some that attended included Citadel Radio VP Bob Adams, South Shore Music Circus and Cape Cod Melody Tent GM Vince Longo, as well as Verizon Wireless Arena GM Tim Bechert.

Since 1995, the venue has brought in some big names for all the Lakes Region to enjoy. Some of the performers have been Emmylou Harris, Boston Pops, Tim McGraw, Sugarland, Clay Aiken, and Reba McIntyre just to name a few. Today was a beautiful day and to take advantage of it, Jay and I took a drive to Laconia New Hampshire.

We had to do an evaluation on a home we may soon be listing in Laconia and wanted to make a day of it. Laconia is in the Lakes Region of New Hampshire and we always enjoy visiting the Lakes Region no matter if it's work or play.

After we finished the cma, we decided to head over to the town of Gilford to visit one of New Hampshire's most popular state park campgrounds.

We've never camped at Ellacoya State RV Park but we have heard rave reviews from fellow campers.

The draw back to camping at Ellacoya is that it is almost impossible to get into during the summer... it's just so popular!

It is a small campground with only 38 sites nestled on the shore of Lake Winnipesaukee and is open to self contained camping units only...meaning you need to have water/electric and bath facilities.

The park has a lovely 600-foot long sandy beach and panoramic views of the Ossipee and Sandwich mountains. The bathhouse was spotless but then there was only one camper set up in the whole campground.

We walked around the campground, took some pictures and just enjoyed the warm sun and being outdoors. If you're into outdoor pursuits NH has an abundance of parks, campgrounds, beaches and the most awesome mountains...something for everyone to enjoy.

Laconia and the Lakes Region is just a short hour and thirty minute drive from southern NH which is just another reason why making Southern NH your next home makes so much sense. Come on over and check us out!
