Easter bunny in Somersworth NH

Join the City of Somersworth New Hampshire this evening, Friday, April 10th at Millennium park for the the annual Somersworth Recreation Easter Egg Hunt.

The fun and festivities for ages 3 to 8 will begin at 6 p.m. sharp. There will be three separate fields for individual age groups all beginning at 6 p.m. sharp. Ages 3 and 4 will be on the softball field. Ages 5 and 6 will be on field #2. Ages 7 and 8 will be on field #3.

The recreation department of Somersworth New Hampshire has told me that the Easter Bunny promised to hide lots of eggs, so all children should bring a basket or bag to hunt with. April has been a fairly rainy month so far in Somersworth New Hampshire so egg hunters and parents are being told to be prepared to possibly hunt for eggs in the mud. The forecast seems to be clear this evening, so hopefully no worry about rain, and definitely no worry about snow!.

Parents; Don't forget to bring your cameras for when the Easter Bunny arrives. This will be a moment you will not want to miss.

Somersworth, NH Real Estate Tour

Somersworth New Hampshire Real Estate and Relocation Tour

pictureSomersworth, New Hampshire is located in the scenic seacoast region of the state. The town was first settled before 1700 as a parish of Dover and was called Sligo after the Irish county which was home to an early colonial governor. In 1729, the parish of Summersworth was organized separately, and in 1754 the community was incorporated under its present name by Colonial Governor Benning Wentworth. Situated at the 100-foot drop of the Salmon Falls River, Somersworth emerged as a prosperous mill town by the early decades of the 19th century. The community grew rapidly throughout the next several decades, with a significant influx of new residents arriving to work in the mills from Ireland and Quebec. While the region's textile economy declined after the Great Depression, the latter half of the 20th century brought a population boom throughout the southern New Hampshire region as the expansion of the highways brought thousands of young families from Boston and other major cities.

Centrally located just a short trip from New Hampshire's numerous attractions- the Atlantic Ocean coast, the snowy peaks of the White Mountains, and the scenic expanse of the Lakes Region - Somersworth offers a bounty of historic and natural scenery, excellent schools, and numerous opportunities for outdoor recreation and leisure.

It all adds up to a quality of life that has gained national recognition. For many years, the community has been part of a region (the Portsmouth-Rochester Metro Region), that Money Magazine has ranked among the "Most Livable Cities in the US".

Somersworth NH welcome sign

Located only 15 minutes north of Portsmouth New Hampshire lies the small town of Somersworth. Sligo, the original name of the city of Somersworth, was a part of a larger area called Dover, settled in 1700. Organized as the Parish of Summersowrth in 1729 and then incorporated as a separate town in 1754. Due to a clerical error, the incorporation changed the spelling to Somersworth. Only to be lated incorporated as the City of Somersworth in 1893.

With a rich history as a mill town, imigrants flocked to the city from all over the world. Textiles were the main source for employment, but there were also several sawmills, and cotton and woolen manufacturing buildings.

Somersworth NH historical society museum

This is just a brief synopsis of the rich history you can find located at the Somersworth Historical Society Museum. The Museum, located at 157 Main Street, Somersworth New Hampshire, is the location of the former city hall. Somersworth NH boy scouts to serve as color guard for a Bruins Game

Bill Somerset -ABR®, E-PRO®, Realtor®, Dover NH Real estate agent: Real Estate Agent in Dover, NH

welcome to New Hampshire sign

The more and more I write my blogs, luckily for me, the more and more I have been noticed. As most of you may know by now, I am very involved in youth sports, in particular, youth hockey. My son Micheal is a member of the Somersworth Berwick Black Bears youth hockey team at the Mites level. For any of you that know about youth hockey, you will know what a Mite is, between the ages of 5 and 8. I am also the head coach for the Mites team, and am a member of the Board of Directors for (SBYHA) Somersworth Berwick Youth Hockey.

I often write about my community involvement, my plans with the team, and our fund-raising efforts. It seems that residents of Somersworth New Hampshire are now reading my blogs! (YEAH ME!) I was contacted last week by the supervisor of the recreation department for the city of Somersworth asking for a little bit of help. You see, not only do I blog, and am heavily involved with SBYH, but I am the webmaster for the hockey programs website! www.leaguelineup.com/somersworthberwick The supervisor Darryl asked if I could announce the fact that the Somersworth New Hampshire cub scouts and boy scouts will be serving as color guard for the Boston Bruins final, regular season, home game. The recreation department is offering transportation to the game, and a ticket for entry, all for only $50! I told Darryl that I would be honored to do so and that I would do whatever he needed to help him out.

Boston Bruins

....Come watch the Bruins take on division rival Buffalo Sabres on Saturday, April 5th for an evening face-off at 7:00 p.m. Members of the Somersworth Boy Scouts/Cub Scouts will serve as color guard during the playing of the National Anthem prior to the game. This is the Bruins final game of the regular season and will serve as "Fan Appreciation Day". Bus leaves at 4:00 p.m. from the Flanagan Center. $50 per person includes ticket and transportation. Children 12 and under must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Tickets can be purchased at the Somersworth Recreation Department in City Hall. For more information, call 692-9508.

So, there you go Darryl, I hope this was a good enough plug for you!
