I'd like to talk to you, Buyers, Sellers, and Agents, about rolling your sleeves up, diving in, and ignoring the panic around you to focus on doing well for yourself and your family!
Now, more than ever, we all need sound professional advice.
Buyers need experienced Realtors they can trust to recommend trusted Loan Officers. It is a great time to buy,there is no denying that. An experienced Realtor will help you determine where you stand from a lender's viewpoint.
Sellers need experienced Realtors who will be honest about how to best price their home. Some sellers can make money in this market - it just may require a shift in perspective. Some Sellers are in a position where they can do well in a sale, maybe their home has increased in value $100,000 over the past ten years, but all they can see now is that it is worth $10,000 less than it was a year ago and they think they are losing money! Do you really have to move or want to move is what I ask them. If the answer is yes, then move! The percentage of money you are "losing" on the sale will be recouped by the percentage of money you will "gain" when you buy!
Realtors, we need professional help as well! We can still make money, but it may not be as much as we made last year. Just like everyone else, we have to see what expenses we can cut in our personal and business lives. Get some professional advice if you can't determine on your own which business expenese you make that are giving you a return and which are not. I have always like Real Estate seminars and the like, but lately I am just hiring personal assistance to help determine where my money is best spent and to make sure that those things are done consistently.
Everyone, take a deep breath and relax. Devote a day or weekend to a "retreat" for yourself or for you and your family. Turn off the phone and tv and spend a little quiet time. Figure out what your priorities are and concentrate on how to keep the things that are most important to you. I don't mean "things" as in merely "possessions," but your lifestye and quality of life, where you work, how you work, where you and your family spend their time.
It is easy to get a little depressed in these times. We don't always make the best decisions when we're feeling scared or depressed. We're all in the same boat - so when you're down, talk to someone who's feeling more optimistic. You may get to return the favor to them next week or month!
