Moorestown's 4th Annual

Halloween Parade

For you Moorestown residents who have kids that still love to dress up and parade around in their costumes for Halloween, they’ll get their chance to do so this weekend. On Saturday, the 25^th, the Moorestown Business Association will be hosting its 4^th annual Halloween Parade.

Everyone that wants to join in the fun needs to come to the PNC parking lot by 3:45pm dressed in their costumes! Parents who want to dress up, may certainly do so as well;-) The marchers will head down Main Street towards Chester Ave. Once they get to Chester Avenue, by Moorestown Friends School, the “paraders” will move to the sidewalk and continue on to Stokes Hill.

There will be a bonfire along with music, prizes and food to enjoy at Stokes Hill. If you want to participate in Pumpkin Carving, then please bring your pumpkin a little earlier. Unfortunately, the flyer doesn’t mention whether to bring the pumpkin to Stokes Hill or to the parking lot?

From personal experience, this Halloween Parade has become bigger and better with every year and it looks like the Moorestown Business Association has outdone themselves again.

If need be, the rain date has been set for Sunday, October 26.

This event is just one of the many that make Moorestown such a wonderful place! Hope to see you out there, I’ll be the guy with a Power Ranger and a Fairy…..I’m not sure what the kids will be wearing though.

Here’s the Moorestown Real Estate market update for August 2008. Pended units for August were up 5 and Sold units were up 8 compared to August 2007; listed units were down 11 versus 2007. This has led to a current inventory of 200 units. Moorestown has been averaging 16 units sold per month which means there is currently 12 months worth of inventory in Moorestown. This matches the overall Burlington County market, which has 12 months worth of inventory. Year to date listed units are down 21 (a 5.7% decrease), pended units are down 18 (a 12.2% decrease) and sold units are down 42 (a 30.4% decrease). Over the last 3 years the average number of units pended and sold in August was approximately 16 & 28 respectively. This August, there were 14 pended and 25 sold. The average Days on Market for the year is 102.

Below is a chart that shows the average list price and average sold price for Moorestown from 8/2007-8/2008. The average sold price is down 23.4% from August 2007 ($678,882) to August 2008 ($520,610).

Moorestown is hosting its sixth annual “Family Fun Day” this Sunday the 21^st at Strawbridge Lake Park from 12noon until 5pm. The township shuts down Haines Dr between Church Rd and Pleasant Valley Rd for the festivities.

There is no admission fee to this great Moorestown event and the rides are free as well! Some of the Free activities include a 100 Foot Drop Slide, Castle Moonbounce, Extreme Climbing Wall, Face Painting and Pony Rides.

Having been to this event in the past, I can tell you that it’s a wonderful Family Day and that you’ll find something to enjoy no matter what the age group!

Parking will be provided in some lots across Route 38, with the majority of the spaces on the other side of Pleasant Valley Rd. There will be a free shuttle service from the parking area to the site as well: just look for the yellow Moorestown School Buses.

Brandywine Glen is located off of Hartford Road in Moorestown and is full of distinctive homes. Most were built in the mid '90s and no two are the same. The homes here very beautiful and when I was driving by I stopped off and take a few pictures. With large yards and private settings, this is a wonderful to place to call home. In fact, Randall Cunningham lived here when he was the quarterback of the Philadelphia Eagles. If you're ever in the area, I recommend taking a quick drive though!

While my wife grew up in Moorestown, I’ve been a resident for about 8 years. Every year, for the past 4 years, we’ve had a block party. Unless you were at the block party, I’m sure you could care less about that, but…..We just found out this year that Moorestown has Volleyball, Badminton, Croquet sets and much more available for you to use at your Block Party! Now that’s a hometown!!

I knew Moorestown was a great place to live because of its’ schools, parks, proximity to Philadelphia, New York, Washington DC etc., but to know that the town actually lets you borrow stuff to make your block party even better is awesome!

So if you’ve just moved to Moorestown, or you’ve been a Moorestown resident for your entire life, start working on your block party. The township is happy to let you borrow some games for everyone to enjoy. What better way is there to develop a sense of community than “Block Party Croquet?”
