For years I have passed this Hudson NY old brick house, I knew it was old by the type of brick as well as the old tin roof. I suspect in the good old days it was probably th residence of someone with a bit of money. Okay I don't know the real story I just made that up :)
What I do know is that it was there before the cement factory. To the left of the house is an overpass which went directly to the cement factory, however, once the factory came about the old brick house no longer serviced the purpose of a residence.
This home certainly long for the good old days.

Wordless Wednesday|All Alone
I saw this silo on my way back from a closing yesterday, and it got my attention because it was all alone in a field. I suspect at one time it was once surrounded by other buildings, and grains and feed was stored there.
Now it stands all alone in this field with just weeds, and invasive vines around.
Hopefully in business you are not standing alone but rather surrounding yourself with a network. I suspect for members of ActiveRain standing alone is not an option.

This 3 bedroom home is located on a quiet country road. The large porch will be a place the new owner will sit back and relax , read a book, and enjoy nature.
You just never know what feature will attract a buyer, in this case it was the claw foot tub and the rest of the house met the other needs.

The Great Stone Barn as the name implies is a massive structure. This structure was constructed by the Shakers and it was the largest barn in the country. Having seen it, I can attest to the fact that it is massive.
Located in New Lebanon NY, a town where you will find many Shaker relics. Unfortunately in 1972 this Great Stone Barn was destroyed by a fire. Although the stonewall still stands, I noticed from a sign posted in front of the building that the State of NY was involved with the stabilization of the structure.
I really wanted to get inside and walk around put it was posted so I could only look in. I am always amazed at the structures that were constructed without the gizmos available today.

This evening I saw this sunset; and today was a beautiful day. With hurricane Irene knocking on our doors I wondered if the sun will shine this weekend?
I have survived many hurricanes, and I can tell you it is important to follow the directives given regarding evacuating your home.
I will admit as a child it was fun watching the trees bend over as if to kiss the ground. I even thought it was cool watching the water rise but as I matured it wasn't so funny anymore. I finally got it, people died, animals and crops were washed away.
The point is' things can be replaced but not your life. I was just listening to the news and one woman stated she would not leave her home although she was close to the water. She needed to be there to protect her proper, keep in mind life is a precious gift.
