OLD FLUORESCENT LIGHT BULBS (THE TWISTY ONES!)? Drop them off at any Home Depot for proper disposal (they contain small amounts of mercury that should not be deposited into regular garbage pick-up). Changing over to these bulbs will reduce your electricity use at home and the office, and will prevent greenhouse gas emissions that lead to global climate change. Lighting accounts for close to 20% of the average home's electric bill. Qualified (Energy Star) fluorescent bulbs use up to 75% less energy (electricity) than traditional incandescent bulbs, last up to 10 times longer, cost little up front, and provide a quick return on investment. Students in the Five Towns area are dancing in the streets this afternoon.

The Hewlett Woodmere Public School District 14 has just announced that schools will be closed tomorrow due to the anticipated snow.

Lawrence Public School District 15 has also just made a similiar announcement.

10-18" is expected to start sometime after midnight. Right now it is a beautiful sunny day outside. Hard to imaged that snow and heavy winds are to follow.
