The neighborhood immediately south of Worthington is the Chaseland neighborhood.
The Chaseland neighborhoods is in the City of Columbus.
Chaseland is just south of Worthington and east of High Street, the three streets south of Selby Blvd, Chase, Lincoln and Stanton are the Chaseland neighborhood. The sign pictured is on the east side of High Street and welcomes you to Clintonville. Chaseland is in the City of Columbus... but it could have been part of the City of Worthington if things had turned out differently.
Chaseland neighborhood history
I never realized until reading the book "Worthington Neighborhoods" by Jennie McCormick that "In 1954, voters approved the annexation of Chaseland into Worthington." Franklin county commissioners would not allow it so the Chaseland neighborhood became a city of Columbus neighborhood.
Confused in Columbus? I am. I wonder why??? Why not Worthington? Why would Franklin County not want the Chaseland neighborhood to be part of Worthington? I wonder too how long after the vote (who was voting?) did Chaseland become part of the City of Columubus?
Chaseland was part of the historic Worthington it was a Worthington farmlot. The land that was developed as Chaseland had been part of Rev. Philander Chase (one of the original settler's) farm. Chase was the first pastor at St. John's Episcopal Church in Worthington.
Columbus' Chaseland neighborhood is part of the Clintonville area.

According to Fannie Mae economists, it appears that the economic recovery is here. It appears that the longest recession since the Great Depression is coming to an end. Fannie Mae is projecting, sales of new and existing homes will jump 11% next year and that home prices will stabilize.
New home sales are expected to rebound by growing 24% with the sales of existing homes projected to increase by 10% in 2010. It is expected that prices will stabilize next year with the median resale home price remaining unchanged.
The first-time home buyers tax credit helped boost sales in the third quarter of 2009. Sales are expected to stabilize by the end of 2009 before strengthening in late 2010. The first-time home buyers tax credit also led to a jump in real estate brokerage commissions. Although home sales in the third quarter increased the largest in more than 2 decades, it came from extremely depressed levels.
Other data indicates a substantial excess supply of housing. Home owner vacancy rates grew in the third quarter along with the rental vacancy rate, which was the highest since 1965. Short-term interest rates are expected to hold until late 2010 due to depressed rents along with stagnant wages which relieves pressure on the consumer price index.
Fannie Mae is currently projecting $1.3 billion in mortgages will be refinanced this year accounting for two-thirds of mortgage organizations by dollar volume. Next year it is expected that there will only be half the amount of refinancing taking place do to the fact that many eligible for financing will have already done so in 2009. Also, interest rates are expected to rise from an average of 5.07% to 5.42% in 2010. Application for adjustable-rate mortgage loans are expected to account for 8% of loan requests next year, up from 5% this year but significantly less than the 20% from 2007

Federal officials are keeping a close eye on smaller banks, which have been failing at the highest rate in 19 years. The FDIC reports that the number of banks on the "problem list" rose to 552 from 416 on June 30, 2009. 50 banks failed during the quarter, the largest number since the 2nd quarter 1990
Anyone know how to find the FDIC's list of banks on the "problem list?"
