Tell Me Something Good That Happened To You This Week

This has been an eventful week for a particular member of our family. Davin, our grandson plays Little League Baseball.

He was selected to be a member of the ALL-STAR team which then went to Center, TX to compete in the Dixie Majors State Tournament.

The IDABEL ALL-STAR TEAM won their games Saturday, Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday. It looked like they were headed to the Dixie Major World Series but Wednesday brought their first loss.

Thursday game was the deciding game and they played their hearts out. A couple of split hair plays cost them the trip to North Charleston, South Carolina. Tyler County won. It was such a close game 5 to 4.

I am so proud of that team though! They brought home second place in the tournament.

Sliding into third base is Davin, our grandson. . ..AND HE'S SAFE!

He loves the sport and he plays with his heart.

He, His parents and little brother, Chris were tired... all week in a motel.. although I think Chris had a wonderful time and decided it might be nice to move to Marshal TX where they were staying.

Idabel provides opportunities for young people to participate in Baseball, basketball, football, soccer, golf, and tennis. There's a lot going locally for our youth throughout the year. If you are relocating to Idabel, feel free to call me if I can help or provide information.

Bob Burke, Oklahoma City attorney has written more non-fiction books than anyone else that I could find. In fact, that last sentence and different arrangments of it were found in severl locations around the internet. Attorney Burke's 100th book about his hometown, Broken Bow, Oklahoma (74728) was unveiled at an all-class school reunion recently in Broken Bow, Oklahoma. Since this is Broken Bow's Centennial year, that was very appropriate.

Checking the website of my favorite online used books store turns up just a few of Mr. Burke's books..

Moving to McCurtain County Oklahoma, have children in school? This is ball country!

McCurtain County Oklahoma is ball country! If you're moving to McCurtain County or Choctaw County and there are children in your family, you need to know that this is ball country. We take football, basketball, and baseball rather seriously around here as team sports. There's also a lot of involvement in soccer and individual sports of golf and tennis.

Let's talk about team ball sports in Southeast Oklahoma.

The list below contains links to the local schools in McCurtain County that are in my area, and specifically a link to the sports sites for those schools if the school has that information online.

Making a Happy Plate At PaPa Pablano's Idabel Oklahoma

chicken salad

We recently had one of those family gatherings where everyone overeats... ever have those?

This time, we ate at PaPa Pablano's. If you've been reading The Country Life in Southeast Oklahoma, you've read a post recently about how good the food is at PaPa's.

The wonderful thing about PaPa's is that I can order the Chicken salad without cheese and onions with salsa as a salad dressing and not only is it delicious but super healthy.

Everyone got their favorites and everyone made happy plates. PaPa's Pablano's has some of the BEST Mexican food in these parts.

They are located just north of the "Y" in Idabel and also have a location in Broken Bow at the Charles Wesley Motel... along with several locations in Arkansas.
