Yeah, a Long Weekend is Coming... Check Out Chinguacousy Park, Brampton, Ontario
That's right a long weekend hits Ontario, Canada next weekend February 13th to 15th, 2010. Here in Ontario Canada this will be our second annual Family Day weekend, an extra day devoted to families. In 2008, the provincial government decided we hard working Ontarians needed an additional long weekend to help us through that long period from ringing in the New Year until our long weekend for Easter; and created "Family Day", without hesitation we embraced it.
What better way to spend this extra down time than at Brampton's beautiful Chinguacousy Park Winter Festival Family Day celebrations, taking place Monday February 15th. They are lining up all sorts of events from ice mazes, dog sled rides, snow golf, bonfires with marshmallows plus live entertainment to keep the whole family amused from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. Enjoy skiing, snowboarding and/or tubing down our very own Mount Chinguacousy. Have you ever gone tubing? Don't miss out on the fun, you have to try it.
We haven't had much snow this winter, but no worries, Mount Chinguacousy is equipped with its own snow making machine. Need a rest? The club house offers a warming fireplace with snacks available and ski rentals.

The beautiful 100 acre Donald M. Gordon Chinguacousy Park, is located at 9050 Bramalea Road and Central Park Drive in Brampton, Ontario, Canada, for four seasons of fun and activities.

MUST READ" Your Life Could Depend On It!
Almost everyone here on Active Rain, Realtors, Home Inspectors, Stagers, Mortgage Brokers, as part of their day to day business go into people's houses. We never know what to expect or what we will find.
A couple of days ago there was an article in the Toronto Sun (one of Toronto's daily newspapers), about the Police attending to a noise complaint. On speaking with the complainant they noticed an aquarium with a snake it. This turned out to be not just any old snake.
The snake was an African Gaboon viper, a little over three feet long. This little guy is one of the most deadly snakes in Africa. It can grow up to 7 feet long and weigh up to 18 pounds. Rodney Southern wrote a great article about this snake and is worth the few minutes it takes to read it. See article here.
We hope this article will remind you to keep your hands in your pockets, don't reach out to see the cute little snake or dog or bird, until you know what you are about to get in return.
Look at this cute little guy

Happy Groundhog Day Active Rainers and Friends

Did you hear the news Punxsutawney Phil from Gobblers Knob is at it again.

We hear over and over that lands from the north Canada are the cause of these long cold snowy winters. Well, we went searching and found Willy the groundhog to get his predictions.

Willy thinks that Phil is just a little too fat and lazy and would sleep to Summer if he could.
See you soon...

Brampton residents have an opportunity to "Get Brampton on the Board" and be a part of gaming history. Hasbro, the makers of MONOPOLY, has launched a nation-wide vote to find Canada's 22 favourite cities that will be included on the new MONOPOLY Canada game board in celebration of its 75th Anniversary.
"What a great opportunity for Brampton to get a piece of real estate in this Canadian edition of a cultural icon," says Brampton Mayor Susan Fennell. "I encourage all Bramptoniains to get online and vote to ensure that our City has a place on the Board."
Beginning January 11 and running until February 7, 2010, you can visit www.monopolyvote.ca to cast a vote for your favourite Canadian city. 65 Canadian cities have been pre-selected for the top 20 city vote and Brampton is one of them! So, cast your ballot for your favourite city each day of the vote. You must visit the website, create a profile, and login each day to vote. You are only allowed to vote once per day during the contest period. The city that receives the most votes will be placed on the highest rent property traditionally held by Boardwalk.
Two other spaces on the board will be reserved for cities that are nominated through a wild card vote. The cities voted onto the final game board will be announced in June 2010. The new MONOPOLY Canada Edition will be launched on Canada Day and available in stores prior to launch.
So what are you waiting for Brampton, vote for your city to be on MONOPOLY Canada today….and every day until February 7, 2010!
