Thanksgiving has barely passed and we just couldn't wait to usher in the Christmas Season!
What better way than Redmond's annual Holiday Starlight Parade! The parade, held in Downtown Redmond, Oregon, starts at dusk and is filled with beautifully lit entries of all shapes and sizes. Even the horses had twinkle lights! Although I've lived in Redmond for eight years, this is my first Starlight Parade and I must say it couldn't have been a better first. The weather was unseasonably warm with only a light jacket needed. And just in case you got a little chilly, many local merchants had hot chocolate ready and waiting.

The parade started with a string of classic cars decorated for the season.

What better way to top the evening off than the annual Tree-Lighting Ceremony, complete with carolers, candlelight, and Santa! It was an evening filled with fun for all ages. Just one more reason to visit our local Central Oregon area, no matter the time of year!

One of my favorite times of year has always been autumn. The colors are so magnificent in many of our hometowns, and Central Oregon is no exception!
So let me take you on a little tour and show you a few of my favorite places to visit. Maybe you'll be convinced to take a trip of your own!

Much of the city of Redmond is nestled in a valley and surrounded by nature's finest, including: the Ochoco Mountains, Smith Rock, Mt. Bachelor, and other members of the Cascade Mountain Range. Our high desert area is truly a diverse one.

Your trip to Redmond would not be complete without a stop by Dawson Station where you can enjoy lunch at the Mustard Seed Cafe, drop the family dog by Doggie Style to be groomed, check in with Raymond James for some financial advice, and when they give you the good news you can swing by Desert Sky Real Estate so I can help you pick out your new home!

We can head to Winestyles of Redmond for a celebratory glass of wine and maybe pick up a book on decorating your new home from Shelf Life Books. Just across the corner is the Hen's Tooth, an historic home recently converted to a home interiors and gift shop, and one of the most beautifully landscaped businesses in Redmond.
Let's finish off our Central Oregon day at Drake Park in downtown Bend. Now that the family pet has been beautified you can show him off to the many other dog lovers in the area while the kids run off some energy.

Just a block away from Drake Park the options abound for shopping and dining. A couple of local favorites are Merenda and Marz. Or maybe the Deschutes
Brewery better suits your tastes. There are just too many choices to mention them all here! Now lets head to Goodies for handmade chocolates or ice cream for dessert.
And, with all that fun under our belts, it's time to call it a day! So what do you think? Not only is Central Oregon a beautiful place to visit that offers variety enough to satisfy every taste, it's also an area of friendly people who would love to meet you.
Plan your trip to check it out for yourself, and don't forgot to stop by Desert Sky Real Estate and say "Hi"!

One of the biggest things stopping people from participating in the American Dream today is the ability to come up with the down payment. While talk of a credit crunch keeps some buyers sidelined because of credit problems, many others with good credit are able to get the best deals in years including programs with no down payment!
The program leading the way in no down payment requirements (for non veterans) is the USDA Rural Development loan. This loan is available right now for Redmond and who better to show you homes in this community than Cat Zwicker-Grant with Desert Sky Real Estate in Redmond.
To qualify for the program (it is income limited), a family of four cannot have a total household income of more than $70,750 per year. That is a pretty liberal guideline.
If you are interested in property in this area and would like to see if the address falls within the USDA "footprint" click here.
So - THE TIME IS RIGHT! We have many properties on the market, we have MONEY TO LEND, and the Federal Government is giving First Time Homebuyers a $7500 tax credit if they purchase prior to next summer!
For more information on USDA loans, and to see if your household income qualifies for this NO PMI loan, please click here. If you want to get the mortgage qualification process started, either call me at 541-342-7576 or fill out an application on line here.
