Tualatin, OR

There is a new restaurant in town and I will be heading over to try it out as soon as I possibly can. A BBQ chain call Famous Dave's has just opened up in Tualatin, Oregon that is not only adding 150 jobs but providing much needed BBQ to the SW area of Portland Metro.

Oregon has always had far too few BBQ joints so it makes sense for one of the chains to finally make it's way out here because if they are any good, I guarantee it will be extremely popular.

This park is right on the edge of Tigard, in Tualatin, Oregon, we saw it on the map when I was going to put signs up at one of my listings. Having never even seen this park since it isn’t on a main road, it isn’t something you are going to stumble upon, I had no idea what to expect when we got there.

When we pulled in to the parking lot, boy, we knew immediately that this park was different and it certainly didn’t disappoint! The City of Tualatin really made a great park that the kids did not want to leave. Heck I didn’t want to leave!

It has 3 full sets of playground equipment for kids, tennis courts, basketball court, baseball field, a dock for fishing, and is surrounded by farms, which I have to say I really enjoyed watching the two day old foal. All this is surrounded by a walking/running trail for anyone to enjoy. This park even had a little pond in the middle that had ducks, geese, frogs (we tried to catch one), and even something my wife has never seen here in Oregon, a wild turtle.

My family spent over two hours at this park and none of us really wanted to leave, but baseball practice was calling and we had to. The park even had bathrooms that were very clean, so there would have been no reason to leave other than baseball practice. The only complaint my kids had was that the equipment was out in the open and not shaded by trees making some of the equipment very hot to the touch.

Personally, I couldn’t find anything wrong with this park. They had drinking fountains throughout the park for humans and dogs! So, if you are looking for a great place to hang with the family or even to play checkers or chess on one of their picnic tables with boards built in, like the New York Parks, with a friend, then this is the park for you.

A couple months ago I wrote a post about cleaning a property for a seller that didn't live close to the property I was selling for them. I cleaned it just to try to get it to sell faster and that if I had to do it all over again that I would.

Well, I had a potential seller call me because they had a home that they wanted to sell that was just getting out of probate. They lived in another state and they knew the house belonged to a packrat. This person was willing to sign a 2% extra commission and a long term contract to have me take the listing and do my magic with it and get it sold.

I am heading out to the property next month when it is officially out of probate when all the liens and possible disputes have been resolved on the property, but I am going to take pictures and send them to the seller to show the difference. Hopefully they will give me permission to print the before and after pictures.

This last Friday night I was invited to an event that I wish I had learned about earlier in the summer. But, next year my family and I plan to hit every concert there as it is a free and a fun event.

This last Friday night, August 22, 2008, a group called The Sugar Beets performed and I have to admit they were a lot better than I thought they would be and a lot of kids were dancing to the music.
