Don't take yourself seriously!!! Only your WORK !

Ann Sabbagh, Sr. Loan Officer: Loan Officer in Pawtucket, RI

"The most important thing I have learned over the years, is the difference between taking one's work seriously, and taking one's self seriously. The first is imperative - and the second disastrous." Margaret Fontey

Every day I go into work and realize how serious my job is. People need homes to live in. Homeowners are trying to save their homes for their families. As a mortgage professional, they are relying on our industry now more than ever.

Do I take myself seriously? If I take myself too seriously, I run the risk of losing sight of the goal: the consumer's home.

Here are:

Ten Reasons not to take yourself too seriously

(excerpt from: http://conisong.wordpress.com/2009/05/13/ten-reasons-not-to-take-yourself-too-seriously/)

13 05 2009

The top 10 reasons to not take yourself too seriously, (in dyslexic order.)

  • gives you frown lines and frown lines are unbecoming. (Smiling causes character lines. There now, that"s better.)
  • is a lot of work. (Living should be an adventure, not a grind.)
  • can give you an ulcer. (Acid reflux sucks too.)
  • means you better be right every time. (The odds are simply against that notion.)
  • you can't laugh at the stupid things you do. (And you will do something stupid.)
  • if you ever do laugh, you cannot snort and blow milk out your nose. (Dignified laughter is just wrong.)
  • it's not all about you anyway. (Just get over yourself and notice the good in some one else for a change.)

And the top reason is;* drumroll please*,

  • NO ONE ELSE DOES.

You may have noticed that I did not number my reasons and I do not have 10. So, stop taking this so seriously. Why don't you tell me another reason why we should not take ourselves so seriously?

Now, make it a great day! I mean it. Smile.

Do you have the GRACE to succeed in real estate?

Ann Sabbagh, Sr. Loan Officer: Loan Officer in Pawtucket, RI

"Courage is grace under pressure." Ernest Hemingway

Boy, do we have a lot of GRACE in the real estate industry! Every day when you wake up, do you have the strength to get up and the courage to go after buyers/sellers? Or do you wait for the business to come to you?

How pro-active are you? Do you utilize all the tools available to become a better real estate professional? Do you spend the time to educate yourself beyond the continuing education requirements?

Do you have the courage and the grace to succeed in this tough economy and real estate market?

Speechless Sunday - Block Island

Jennifer Fivelsdal, Mid Hudson Valley: Real Estate Agent in Rhinebeck, NY

Block Island, RI

Now that winter is officially here, I have turned my attention to summer with the hope of forgetting the expected frigid weather conditions.

One place I love visiting is Block Island in Rhode Island; with 17 miles of beach and a slower pace of life it really fits right in with my idea of vacation.

When I visit, I spend many hours just walking around the island, discovering new plants, visiting the the lighthouses, watching the boats and other tourists biking. after a nice long walk I always look forward to finding a place where my favorite ice cream is served, rum raisin. At the end of the day I am usually very tired (but a good tired) and with the air from the ocean I also get a good night's sleep.

Let's OPEN our eyes in 2010 and make the BEST of this industry!

Ann Sabbagh, Sr. Loan Officer: Loan Officer in Pawtucket, RI

"I open my eyes to the wonder of being. Delighted in the way things turn out, amazed at the beauty of it all. I am happy."

This is MY New Year phrase for 2010. I met with a buyer today who told me he had a stroke at the age of 42! It made me stop to think about life and how truly short it is....shorter for some and longer for others, but for ALL of us, it truly is short!

Let us all work together in 2010 and make it a HAPPY AND SUCCESSFUL year for ALL of us, including the buyers and the sellers, because, afterall, we are in this industry working for THEM.

Happy New Year Active Rain friends!
