The Upstate is well-suited to a variety of outdoor activities. Our many lakes, parks, rivers and mountains provide endless opportunities - boating, fishing, picnicking, swimming, camping, and home to more than 80 golf courses. Golf is one of the best reasons to visit the Upcountry. Easily accessible, the Upstate offers an un-crowded alternative with golf courses designed by renowned architects such as Jack Nicklaus, George Cobb, Gary Player, Willard Byrd and Tom Jackson. Gently rolling terrains set the tone for our golf courses, with changes in elevation ranging from gentle to drastic, providing the appeal of mountain golf but with milder weather. There are many wonderful golf communities in the Upstate offering homes from the $150,000 to more than $3,000,000. Below you will find links to a few of these communities. Golf is our Passion! We work very closely with our clients to help them with their new definition of lifestyle as part of their new home search. Knowing how you wish to live during this next phase of your life is critical to finding that perfect home. Downsizing means different things to different people and is lifestyle driven. You may be looking for less space, but how do you plan to use the space? Perhaps you're willing to give up the formal dining room you use only a few times a year for a media center. Perhaps that formal living room would make a great home office. Some may prefer a large shower over a tub/shower combination. And for many of us, we don't want to climb 5 or 6 steps to get into our home. Whatever your lifestyle needs, we can assist you in finding the right home in the right community. The upstate offers a variety of downsizing options. They range from 2 bedroom bungalows, to 4 bedroom ranches. Homes range from 1400 square feet to over 3,000. You can purchase a home on a smaller lot that includes landscape maintenance and maintenance free exteriors, or a larger lot if that's your preference. There are Townhomes and condominiums in town or out of town. Amenities could include water access, pools, tennis courts, walking trails and golf courses. Convenient to excellent medical facilities and health care, the upstate offers a variety of communities where you can enjoy life to the fullest. Don't let downsizing be a daunting thought for you! |

Morgan Square in Spartanburg is the place of the original courthouse village, which was established in the 1780s. The place of the first courthouse and jail near a spring eventually became a square which was named after Daniel Morgan, the general who commanded the American forces at the Battle of Cowpens.
In 1880 a opera house with a clock tower was built at Morgan Square. Many Spartanburg’s music events were held between 1880-1906 in the Opera House, which could seat 800 people. In addition Spartanburg’s city hall occupied the first floor of the Opera House. The Opera House and clock tower was torn down in 1907.
The statue of Daniel Morgan was placed on the square in spring of 1881 to mark the 100th anniversary of the Battle of Cowpens. The courthouse, shops and the Merchant’s Hotel, later known as Spartan Inn bordered Morgan Square.
Trues Department store opened in 1905 and operated the first elevator in Spartanburg. The oldest existing buildings still standing on the square today date to the 1880s. During the 1960’s suburban shopping centers drew shoppers away from traditional downtown stores, or hotels. The center of downtown and Morgan Square declined. Within the last decade Spartanburg’s downtown district has been revitalized and Morgan Square remodeled. A number of historic structures have been restored and several businesses and company headquarters relocated to Morgan Square and downtown Spartanburg. Morgan Square is now again the city’s primary downtown hub and a thriving center for daytime commerce and vibrant nightlife.
