High school renovation and expansion

"Renovations are coming to Friendswood High School. Friendswood ISD allocated a total of $30 million to add approximately 80,000 square feet of space to the school."

  • Approximately $23 million will be used to add the following:
  • A two-story entrance building that will house the attendance office, a new library and the offices of assistant principals, counselors, registrar and bookkeeper
  • 20 classrooms, two large laboratories and four small laboratories in the front of the science wing
  • Kitchen space in the cafeteria, along with more student seating
  • 200 new parking spaces

In addition, $7 million has been earmarked for a new natatorium, featuring a 25-yard pool with one- and three-meter diving boards. Plus, there will be seating for 202 participants and 207 spectators.

The Hope Foundation for Retarded Children, Inc. has operated Hope Village, an 18-acre village-like center for children and adults with mental disabilities, since 1970. Located in Friendswood Texas, the mission of the non-profit foundation is to provide superior and yet affordable residential and support services.

Have you had lunch in this friendly and intimate cafe? Scott Lane is the professional chef for Hope Village, and serves fresh and delicious daily specials, sandwiches, homemade soups, salads and desserts, petite or regular size. And of course tea too! Food is made from scratch, the prices are very reasonable and the service is superb. The Village Tea Room & Cafe provides employment opportunities for the Villagers. They may work here as waiters, waitresses, table-cleaning helpers along with the community volunteers who serve as hostesses.

Open to the Public Tuesday through Friday from 11am. to 2pm.

Adjacent to the Tea Room is Hope Village Gift Shop and Ceramics, where you can find a selection of gifts, and also ceramics handmade by the Villagers. All proceeds benefit The Hope Foundation for Retarded Children. Stop by after you eat!
Hours are Monday through Friday, from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm.

FREE Summer Children's Activities - Friendswood, Texas Public Library

Please visit the Friendswood Public Library this summer. For quality summer children's activities it ranks at the top of the list. If you have just relocated to Friendswood, or haven't been there for awhile, now is a great time. Let your child check out some books to take home and get tickets for one or more Children's Events.

There are several programs each week and tickets are available starting one week prior to event, see details below. Tickets are free and are provided to reserve your child a place. Please arrive 5-10 minutes early, events start on time, and doors are closed to further entry for most events. Programs last for approximately 30 minutes unless otherwise noted. Start times are 1:30 and 2:30 unless other noted. Pick up a schedule at the library and events subject to change.
