The Clear Lake Sailing Club will sponsor their annual Introduction to Sailing class on 3 Saturday morning classroom lessons May 31, June 7, and June 14. Upon completion of these 3 lessons, participants practice rigging a small sailboat and experience a one hour on the water sailing demonstration with the sailing club. Classes are for beginners interested in learning small sailboating (under 20 feet). Class is limited to the first twelve registrations. Hospice Care Team has a very special group of volunteers that make a difference every day in the lives of others. Friendswood City Council approved an economic incentive grant for the development of a 21,600 square foot, three story office and retail development named The Design Center. The grant will reimburse Crystal Creek Developers, LLC up to $30,000 for fees paid to the city for the construction and development of the project. The building will be constructed on Friendswood Drive across from the City Hall, and three Friendswood businesses will relocate to the building. The $2.2 million dollar project will increase property tax revenues to the City, FISD, and Galveston County. Also, at least 14 jobs will be retained through the expansion of the development and engineering companies. Groundbreaking is expected in April of this year.

Tee Off Against Cancer is a Non-Profit Corporation whose primary purpose is to raise money for the American Cancer Society. They hold an amateur golf tournament annually, the net proceeds of which are distributed to the American Caner Society- Relay for Life Foundation. This organization is for the critical research, education, patient services and advocacy programs for those individuals and families stricken with this terrible disease.
