How Was Your Weekend?

Donna Harris, REALTOR® & ASP - Austin TX Real Estate: Real Estate Agent in Austin, TX

For the past couple of weeks, I've been posting a "How Was Your Weekend?" blog. People have seemed to enjoy seeing how my family and I spend time together, so here's another weekend.

We went to the Bee Cave Galleria, also known as the Hill Country Galleria, where they have this area of shooting water. Great, FREE Entertainment!

Bee Cave Galleria Fountains

We went out on the boat to check out Lake Austin. The water is much colder than Lake Travis, but with it being 107 degrees, the water felt awesome!! These are half of my in-laws with Alyssa and her shades.

Lake Austin

This is the "360 Bridge" that crosses over Lake Austin.

We went to the Lakeway City Park. There was no "beach" that we were told a lot about, but we found where the beach usually is along with a sign that says to Swim at Own Risk! It looks out of place these days!

And we found the ducks hiding in the shade.

And my daring Alyssa decided to try to climb the clmbing tower... she got pretty high before she slipped, but then she caught herself, but then she got scared of it.

And it wouldn't be a hot, summer day without playing out back in the pool and using the pool water to water the flowers again...

Fun at Home

That was our busy busy weekend.

What did you do this past weekend?

EarlyAct FirstKnight is something I posted about a while ago. It is an ethics and character education program for grades K-8 that also has a community service club component. Part of the implementation is an optional show with costumed war horses and knights in armor. Here is a video I took showing the last few minutes of the show at Lakeway Elementary School. The kids absolutely loved it.

A new community service club was started at Lake Travis Middle School (LTMS) in January. Sponsored by the Lakeway/Lake Travis Rotary Club, the LTMS club is called EarlyAct. Similar to Interact at the high school level, which stands for international action, EarlyAct is for younger students. Students at LTMS this year organized a pet food drive that gathered almost 700 pounds of pet food for a local animal shelter. Below are the officers and charter members of EarlyAct at LTMS.

I was lucky enough to be one of the Rotary advisors to EarlyAct at LTMS. When I am not working with clubs like EarlyAct and Interact, I am selling Lake Travis real estate.

Modern Lake Travis Home - Unfinished - Was $2mil Now $500k

Opportunity knocks for those wanting a project and can turn around an almost cool design on a great Lake Travis waterfront lot with a boat dock. This new construction Austin modern home is partially completed and was on the market last year for almost $2 million. Now it's being sold as is for $500k. The lot alone is probably worth that. Lake front modern bones for $79/sf...hmmm, the numbers could work for the right team to go in and finish up. This one is being sold as-is and will require the bank to approve the sale. Call me for details. 512-413-0870 Austin modern homes

Lakeway TX Connects to Spicewood TX, Road Opening Delayed

Lakeway Home Page

A new street is opening that will connect Lakeway, TX to Spicewood, TX. The initial grand opening was slotted for May 2009, but they are a couple of months behind, but for those thinking Spicewood might be too far of a drive for you, I wanted you to know about this short-cut being created!

Currently, if you need to get to Spicewood, you have to drive all the way down 620 until it deadends into 71, hang a right, and go 9 miles before you reach the first Spicewood community.

Now, instead of driving past all those schools and their school zones, you can bypass all that traffic by cutting through Lakeway and getting all the way to 71, just past Bee Cave. Yes, you'll have slower, residential speed limits, but you'll have less traffic, until more people catch on, or more people move out there.

Of course, this doesn't help my drive since the 71 connection is about 2 miles the opposite direction, but it's going to help open up the area and bring more buyers out to Spicewood where you can buy a 3000+ sqft home in the $200's! And yes, there are several higher-end communities, up over a million, but there are also the lower end to accommodate all types of people wanting to get out of the city and live a more country-style lifestyle.
