The 31st Annual Christmas in Historic Montgomery is slated for Saturday, December 13, 2008. Activities start at 9:00 AM and end at 8:00 PM.

• There will be a Holiday Marketplace at the Community Center from 9:00 AM until 5 PM. At 11 AM
• Christmas Parade begins with the theme "A Star-Spangled Christmas" honoring our Korean & Vietnam War Veterans.
• The ever popular Cookie Walk will be held at the Community Center from 1:00 PM until 5:00 PM.
• Approximately a dozen decorated and lighted historic homes and buildings will be open for The Candlelight Home Tour which begins at 4:00 PM. Hosts and hostesses don Victorian dress for this event. When darkness falls, folks can follow the luminaries throughout the narrow streets of Montgomery, one of the oldest cities in Texas.

The sunset Friday Sept. 12, 2008 was spectacular and a little scary. What the pictures do not show is the trees are already whipping to and fro, you could tell that there would be trees down before morning, and the clouds were moving fast in a circular motion unlike the regular straight in from the coast winds before a storm clouds that we are used to. I stood out for the longest staring at the sky and watching the changes wondering what the night would hold for us. As the sun set in flaming colors, I knew that it would be a different world when morning came.

Like many things in life, Lake Conroe has become so much more than the original developers ever dreamed about. Located on the west fork of the San Jacinto River, it was built in 1973 as a joint project between the City of Houston (as an alternative source of water) and the San Jacinto River Authority (SJRA). State Hwy 105, which runs between Conroe and Montgomery, is to the south of the lake and the northern boundaries spread into San Jacinto county west of New Waverly.

The area is known for it's namesake and the county seat, Conroe. But actually, it is 7 or so miles west of the city. The western portion of the communities attend school in the city of Montgomery and the northeastern portion attend school in Willis school district.

Lake Conroe has become the destination for many people seeking a combination of lifestyles. Because it is located about one hour north of Downtown Houston, it is possible for people to enjoy this recreational lake frequently. Some opt to purchase a condo or small home for weekend excursions.

The rapidly growing population is people that choose the resort lifestyle for permanent, full-time living. Some of them commute to Houston...Some of them tele-commute and work from home...Some of them begin living in this affordable paradise as semi-retired or retired. With three major hospitals within a 30 minute drive, you never have to worry about emergencies. The Woodlands Mall is a short drive away and with the growth of Conroe, you can find an abundant selection of dining options.
