Sherry Hindmarsh - Realtor, Pflugerville Texas Homes (512) 731-8316.: Real Estate Agent in Pflugerville, TX

Dig It! The City of Pflugerville is scheduled to host the grand opening of its first community gardens on Saturday, March 21, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. The Pecan Street Community Gardens is located next to the baseball fields in North East Metro Park (2703 East Pecan Street).

The Pecan Street Community Gardens are available to both City of Pflugerville residents and Pflugerville ETJ residents. The spring garden season will be from February 1 to July 31, and the fall garden season from August 1 to January 31. The gardens will follow the hours of operation of North East Metro Park, which varies depending on the season, but will be open seven days a week. Gardeners are encouraged to create a garden that is both attractive and produces a bountiful harvest. Only organic practices are allowed. A community tool shed will also be available. Bring your supervised children to help.

Garden plots are offered in three sizes: 20'x20', 10'x10', and an accessible 2'x20' plot. All plots are available on a first come, first served basis, with future preference given to continuing gardeners. Garden plot fees are based on plot size and duration.

Plot and Duration Options:
Full Plot (20'x20')------------------Full Year ($50)-----------Half Year ($25)
Half Plot (10'x10')------------------Full Year ($25)-----------Half Year ($12.50)
Accessible Plot (2'x20')---------Full Year ($25)-----------Half Year ($12.50)

Students (18 and under) and Seniors (55 and over) are one half of the above listed prices.

Applications and release forms for the Pecan Street Community Gardens are available on the City website or can be picked up at the Pflugerville Recreation Center. Completed applications and release forms can be turned in immediately at the Recreation Center; however, gardening activity cannot begin until after the grand opening event on March 21. When a gardener turns in their application and pays their plot fee, Parks and Recreation staff will assign a plot number and provide a copy of the community garden rules.

I know you've been waiting for this. Super Target is open in Pflugerville.

Sherry Hindmarsh - Realtor, Pflugerville Texas Homes (512) 731-8316.: Real Estate Agent in Pflugerville, TX

I know you have been waiting for it. I know I have. The Pflugerville Super Target is now open. Now, don't push and shove. They are open Moday through Saturday from 8:00am to 10:00pm and Sunday from 8:00 am to 9:00 pm. The ribbon cutting was held on March 3 and the Grand Opening is not until March 8. But they are open now.

According to The Community Impact Newsletter and Mayor Jeff Coleman, Stone Hill is one of only a dozen large developments opening in the US this year. Our Pflugerville Super Target is one of 27 stores opening nationwide this week. The general manager of our new store is local residend David Aguirre. Already more that 200 employees have been hired. And already they forget to give me the bag with the eggs - causing us to make a second trip back to the store - of course incurring additional purchases at the same time. Do you think they do that on purpose? Anyway, it is a great store and a great addition to our neighborhood.

Target Superstore Ribbon Cutting! Let the shopping Begin!

I also read in the Impact that Target is very involved in the community in which it operates. According to David Aguirre, "Since Target was established in 1962, we have always given five percent of our pre-tax profits back to the community." So go shopping. Maybe it will help lower your taxes.

Stone Hill Town Center - Pflugerville - UPDATE! (Video Included)

Jason Crouch, Broker - Austin Texas Real Estate (512-796-7653): Real Estate Agent in Austin, TX

I have written a handful of updates about Stone Hill Town Center over the past several months, and these posts seem to bring a lot of interest from the local community.

At the risk of losing those folks who might otherwise contact me, this post includes a short video as well.  :)

Currently, the stores that are open are:

  • Home Depot
  • Super Target
  • Best Buy
  • Verizon Wireless
  • Mattress Firm

Bealls Department Store will also be opening very soon.

I happened to stop by the Super Target a couple of nights ago, which turned out to be the day that they had their "quiet opening".  The actual publicized grand opening is occurring Sunday, March 8th.  So far, I really love this store - super-clean with more freshly scrubbed staff than you could imagine just waiting to help.

"Can I help you find anything at all?" seemed to be the phrase of the day.  You have to like that!

Here's a quick video that I shot when I was leaving the area earlier this evening (forgive my slightly windblown look and dirty windshield):

Random Acts of Kindness

Sherry Hindmarsh - Realtor, Pflugerville Texas Homes (512) 731-8316.: Real Estate Agent in Pflugerville, TX

Yesterday I overheard my husband telling someone what a bad day he had the other day. His car wouldn't start in our local Pflugerville Wal-Mart parking lot and then while jumbing it he lost his cell phone. He even wondered aloud what else could go wrong. Well, first of all - you should never ask that question as you may get an answer that will make what you thought was a bad day look like a picnic. But secondly, I pointed out to my husband that it is all on how you look at it. I thought he'd had a great day. Afterall, he had two complete strangers come to his aid. When his car wouldn't start a nice lady and her teenage son stopped and offered a jump. While jumping the car my husband lost his cell phone and didn't even realize it. By the time he got home another nice lady called me at home and said she had found this cell phone in the parking lot at Wal-Mart and then she delivered it to me. Two totally random acts of kindness in one day. He should be celebrating. Great people shop at our Pflugerville Wal-Mart. Go Pflugerville! It's a great place to live.
