The Carver Neighborhood Association will have a general meeting tonight, Tuesday June 28th, at 6 pm. The meeting will be held at the Carver Academy Library located at 1601 Flewellen Rd. Involvement and participation builds strong communities, so join us at this meeting and get involved.

If you are a senior citizen in Waco looking to downsize consider the Overlook. They have 1 and 2 bedroom apartments in a hotel type setting. The apartments have the latest upgrades and features, including granite countertops and balconies.

If you want more privacy, there are also cottage-style town homes. Some are set up for handicapped access with lowered counters and sinks. There is a van and driver available for trips to the doctor or grocery store. However, this is not an assisted-living residence.

There are in-unit laundry hookups or a laundry room on each floor. There is also a library, gym and movie theater, game room and beauty salon. Outside is a pool and storage for boats and RV‘s. There is also a small lake with walking trails.

Chef Kimberly Fehler, culinary arts instructor at Texas State Technical College, will demonstrate how to decorate an Easter cake from 2 to 4 p.m. Wednesday at Collin Street Bakery, 701 N. Interstate 35 in Bellmead.

The free event will cover the step-by-step processes of filling and stacking a basic butter cake, applying fondant, and creating decorative ribbons, flowers and leaves from fondant and gum paste.
