Let It Rain! Over The Texas Hill Country

CARL & CEIL WINTERS Canyon Lake/New Braunfels /San Antonio: Inspector in New Braunfels, TX
LET IT RAIN....Texas Hill Country

Keep Your Fingers Crossed

We could see some ominous clouds for a few minutes this morning before the thick, dense fog set in here at Canyon Lake TX.

Keep your fingers crossed; the weather spokesperson, Storm Tracker Weather Cast, said there is a good chance we will get anywhere from 1-3 inches of rain this evening North of San Antonio in the Texas Hill Country (Boerne, Bulverde, Canyon Lake, Spring Branch and New Braunfels).

Unfortunately everyone still has red eyes and runny nose from the high levels of Mountain Cedar that is in the air. Maybe the rain will settle down the Mountain Cedar.

Everyone please keep your fingers crossed that we get this much needed rain here in Texas.

Gaudalupe River Below the Canyon Dam...
On the Orvis website, http://www.orvis.com/fishing_report.aspx?locationid=6881, Alvin Dedeaux on January 17 reported that the fishing conditions for Rainbow Trout below the Canyon Dam were good. He suggested that the best time of day to fish was mid-morning until early afternoon and the best place to fish was from the 4th crossing down to the 2nd crossing. The water temperature was 56 Degrees F and the water clear with 24 inches of visibility. To find out more about the “Must Have Fly Fishing Patterns, click the link above.

I'm not a Fly Fishermen but I always see folks fly fishing for trout. (I recently saw this stated in a magazine...Did you know that fly fishing below the Canyon Dam on the Guadalupe River is one of the best places to fly fish in the US)? I may have to take up fly fishing.
Listed in America's 100 Best Trout Streams, the Guadalupe River in Texas is the southernmost Trout fishery in the United States. It is a tailwater fishery, which emerges from the bottom of Canyon Lake, harboring a very cold water layer due to the lake’s depth giving Rainbow and Brown Trout a chance to live through the harsh Texas summers.
