Ah, there are so many surprises you might find when you buy a resale home. I was at a friends house in League City for the Superbowl and they told me about a couple of surprises...
Here are a couple of entertaining surprises:
1. The toilet tank lids are glued shut. It took nearly a year to figure this one out... some of the tank innards are needing to be replace. The water is running on one -- but the lid is glued shut. Luckily it looks like the previous owner used silicone, so it should be easy enough to cut it loos and pry off the lid!
2. A vase of flowers is bolted to the art niche... and in over a year, she hadn't even cared to move it anyway. But if she wanted that moved, it would require tools. It really looks like the wooden vase of flowers could be simply lifted and moved.
These are pretty harmless things to discover, and just make you wonder, "What were the previous owners thinking?"
What are some fun things you've discovered in your home(s)?

I took this League City listing Saturday night and it was under contract on Thursday – just six days on the market! Normally it takes a little longer to sell a house, but this time the right buyer looked at the house the day after it went active on the MLS.
If you are looking for a Realtor to assist you with selling or purchasing a home in the suburbs south of Houston, you can count on Rose King for awesome service!

Thinking About Making A Move? I Can Help!|League City, TX| Marilyn Wier 713-542-8451
Making a move can be a stressful time but planning ahead can ease your mind and make for an easier transition. If you take the steps prior to beginning your search , when you start the search you will find it more enjoyable and exciting. When making a move contact me and I can help find your dream home! I can also help with moving tips that will help your move feel less stressful and more exciting!
When you're thinking about making a move, the first steps in the home buying process are:
1. Deciding when you want to make your move
2. Considering how much money you would like to spend
3. Thinking about what type of home you would like
4. Deciding where you would like to live
These steps will be things that you will need to ask and answer before the home buying process. The next step is usually finding out how much loan you can qualify for and deciding the type of financing will work best for you.
If you're in the "thinking about it" stage, you will want to speak with a lender about receiving pre-qualification. If you choose to become pre-qualified, the lender will determine how much you can borrow based on financial information you provide to the lender. Pre-qualification is useful for making preliminary decisions about how much home you can afford, but does not assess your credit worthiness. Before we take a look at homes you will need to pre-qualify.
You will need to fill out a loan application and go through the lender's loan approval process at a later date. When you decide to buy a home, you will want to become pre-approved for a loan prior to beginning your home search.
Please don't hesitate to call or email me for additional information about the buying process. My goal is to provide you with practical information as you consider your next move. And, when you're ready to make your move, I'll help you find your dream home and handle all the details of the transaction, so all you need to do is pack.
If you would like free expertise from a professional, fill out this form or call me today!

GALVESTON PIER: SOMETHING OLD, SOMETHING NEW | GALVESTON ISLAND, TX
GALVESTON (Houston Chronicle) – Landry's founder Tilman Fertitta is restoring a little of Galveston Island's history.
The Houston Chronicle reports that construction has begun on Fertitta's $60 million Galveston Island Historic Pleasure Pier, an amusement attraction much like the one that opened in 1943 at 25th St. It was destroyed by Hurricane Carla in 1961.
The new attraction will be built at the same location, jutting out 1,000 feet over the Gulf. The site was most recently home to the Flagship Hotel.
Plans call for 16 rides (including a roller coaster and Ferris wheel), carnival games, souvenir shops, food vendors and the state's first Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. restaurant.
Pleasure Pier is slated to open in May.
