Lovettsville is a small town in northern Loudoun County Virginia.
It's my home and I love it. Although Lovettsville is in a
rural area of Loudoun County, we are close to conveniences and enjoy both the country atmosphere and access to services and businesses.

WHERE EVERYBODY KNOWS YOUR NAME. One of the things I love about small town living is the friendly person to person relationships with the representatives and owners of shops and service companies.

EXAMPLE: Last week I had new tires installed on my 3 year old Toyota 4Runner. The owner of the shop in Lovettsville, BP Auto Service, had been "watching" my tires for about the last 20,000 miles. When I went in a week ago (with 73,000 miles) for an oil change and tire rotation, a visual examination of the interior of the tires shows a deterioration of the "cords" which could lead to tire failure no doubt when one would least expect it, on the road. "Time to get new tires, Lenn", he advised. The new tires
were installed last Wednesday. Toyota had been trying to sell me new tires for 25,000 miles. I got 2 years of free service when I purchased the vehicle and each time I went in for service, the "sales pitch went into high gear".

The population for Lovettsville is approximately 1,500. Growth in population is primarily due to the affordable new home community in the Town of Lovettsville

Income for Lovettsville residents has grown from about $70,000 in the year 2000 to approximately $110,000 in 2011. Lovettsville average household income is about a third higher than the average household income for Virginia residents statewide.

The Lovettsville Public Library. On many occassions, I have written about the Lovettsville Public Library. It's wonderful and staffed with helpful staff. When my Internet access is ???? due to rain/wind/clouds/sun spots, etc. the Lovettsville Public Library is my back-up system It's free and their computers are fast, reliable and offer printing.

Named for David Lovett, a local farmer, who in 1820 designed the street plan for Lovettsville.

The early town of Lovettsville was settled around the German Reformed Church in the early 1700s.
Quakers and German farmers did not own slaves. Lovettsville citizens assisted both Union and Confederate soldiers following their return from Civil War battles.

HISTORICAL NOTE ABOUT LOVETTSVILLE
The Lovettsville Clerk Saved the Loudoun County Public Records in the Civil War Days.

Loudoun County has public records going back to 1757. These records provide vital statistics for births, deaths, land records and other matters deemed important to the early settlers of Loudoun County.

During the Civil War, when the Union was progressing towards Lovettsville, the town Clerk Mr. George K. Fox, collected the records, transported them to a safe place and stored them.

All of the records were returned intact in July/August 1865. It was reported that "Not a single piece of paper was lost". We all owe a debt of gratitude to this conscientious American who realized the importance of public records to the historical memory of a community.
