Simple Suggestions for Keeping Your Energy Bills In Check

David Burrows: Real Estate Agent in Fairfax, VA

For those of us who live in the Northern parts of these United States, preserving energy in the winter is a huge thing. While I understand that Northern Virginia isn't quite as cold as some places north of here, we still pay a pretty good amount on Gas and Electricity to heat our homes.

This morning I viewed an interesting article on some simple suggestions for keeping your energy bills in check. In other words, here are some things you can do to help preserve our resources and your pocketbook! Follow the link provided:

Don't Forget To Do This When Selling Your House

David Burrows: Real Estate Agent in Fairfax, VA

Listing Agents are notorious for reminding their selling clients to "Prepare their house for sale" and rightfully so. We talk about curb appeal, paint color, staging, having snow removed for easy access, decluttering and much, much more. Interesting enough we often forget this one more area. What is it?

Make sure you have had a locksmith tune up your lock on the front door for easy access and trouble free locking up when a home tour is completed. Why is this important? Yesterday, I had a client with me and we had difficulty getting the door unlocked. Finally, after about 5 minutes of trying we had success. I showed the house and then you are probably ahead of me with this one. We couldn't get the door locked. We tried for at least 15 minutes, calling the owner, the listing Realtor and could reach NO ONE! My buying client was becoming frustrated because we still had 5 more listings to see.

Finally, we had success and it locked. The owner admited later on the phone, the lock had been giving them trouble!

Here is my rule of thumb to follow: As a seller, you always want to make showing your home as easy as possible, including the unlocking and finally locking of the door to the entrance of your home.

Buyer's Market? Depends on Where You Buy

Tom Robinson - Experienced Real Estate Professional Serving No. VA and DC: Real Estate Agent in Fairfax, VA

We are talking local D.C. area here. Prices vary from community to community like they vary from market to market. This morning in the Washington Post Real Estate section there were "Ten Tips for Today's Market." If you are planning to sell, you may want to take a look at this article.

For example, buyers want updated amenities in older homes. You can thank HGTV for those expectations. And about prices, good news depending on how you see it. Northern Virginia home prices are now at 80% of the peak. 67% in suburban Maryland. So, although it is not 2006 or 7, It's not 2009 either. Some useful tips.

Baxter the Dog Exonerated as "Public Enemy #2" in "Scoopergate" Scandal.

Tom Robinson - Experienced Real Estate Professional Serving No. VA and DC: Real Estate Agent in Fairfax, VA

For the last two days, the Washington Post (WP) has used prime real estate to bring us this life changing case against Baxter the pooch in Fairfax County, Virginia. Yesterday his mug shot was on the front page of the WP and today it is on the front of the "Metro" section. It is the most discussed topic on the WP site today. Mr. Baxter, a Westie - bichon frise mix, was charged (actually his dog walker was) with relieving himself on the lawn of a neighbor. The incident resulted in a jury trial that ended yesterday with public enemy #2 being relieved of this court room drama. Baxter's only response was "The system clearly works. I have said that I was innocent from the beginning."

I have included the link to the articles so you can have a morning smile.
