Did you know today is the final day of the 3rd quarter of 2009! Did you know this quarter is the BEST performing quarter for the stock market in over a decade! Did you know our local real estate prices are up - in some areas prices are back up to where they were TWO years ago.

Lunch at Hunter's Head Tavern in Upperville, VA

Chris Ann Cleland, GRI: Real Estate Agent in Bristow, VA

A good friend decided to treat me to lunch last week. She took me to a place I would never have found on my own, Hunter's Head Tavern in Upperville, VA. The drive was full of great scenery. Even a photo opportunity at a 150 year old church.

Hunter's Head Tavern was built in 1750 and is apparently run like an authentic English Pub. Having never been to an English Pub, I'll just assume that's how it works. They have indoor and outdoor dining. You order your food and drinks at a counter and head to your table. Everything is brought to you. And from that point on, no matter what you want, for instance dessert, it's brought to you by your waitress.

I enjoyed a hamburger with Swiss cheese and some French fries. Of course, the bread to start was delicious. Loved the old-time pewter dish! Desert was yummy too. Chocolate cake.

Hunter's Head Tavern is little known to those outside the horse and hunt community. However, I would highly recommend an afternoon, or evening out, for a complete change of pace. As you sit inside and hear the creaking of the old wood floors, and see the simple candle sticks on the tables, you would not be surprised at all to see a famous Colonial American walk into the room, like George Washington or Thomas Jefferson. It's just got that feel to it.

Hunter's Head Tavern is located right off of John Mosby Highway (Route 50) in Upperville. They are currently taking reservations for their Thanksgiving buffet, so if you are interested please click the link to their website and give them a call.

Existing Home Sales Released

Chuck Cornwell: Real Estate Brokerage in Warrenton, VA

Eagles,

NAR just released its existing home sales for July..

Home sales were UP 7.2% in July. Largeest jump in 10 years!!! This is in addition to the 3.6% jump we had in June.

Inventory supply across the nation is 9.4 months

Notables from the report:

30% of home sales were first time buyers

31% of the sales were bank foreclosures -OR- 69% of our sales was NOT a foreclosure

16% of the sales was a CASH deal. Normal market conditions - cash sales represent less than 10%. This is showing investor confidence in the real estate market.

Please let me know what questions or comments you have.

Thanks,

Chuck
