No Rain in Sight

Emelyn Morris-Sayre, CRS, REALTOR Lakewood and Denver Metro homes: Real Estate Agent in Lakewood, CO

When my day is filled with so many deadlines, numerous difficulties and an overwhelming desire to just get away from it all, I pull up photos of St. Croix and imagine that I am on the beach at Buck Island. I take a deep breath, close my eyes.....and I am there. Life is slow, uncomplicated and beautiful.

St Martin

Romac Sotheby's International Realty Company: Real Estate Agent in Charlotte Amalie, VI

St Martin is widely regarded as the Caribbean’s most popular island. Tourists from everywhere visit the island to not only experience the natural beauty of the Caribbean but also the exciting lifestyle of St Martin. St Martin is a must-stop for Cruise ships so tourists visiting the island change weekly if not daily.

The island has adapted to enhance its image as a tourist hub in the Caribbean by building incredible hotel-resorts, casinos and dozens of nightlife spots. Unless there’s a festival occurring, St Martin is relatively quiet in the day, but when the sun goes down St Martin turns into a booming Caribbean nightlife spot.

St Martin has heavy French influences, so the homes, attire and accents usually reflect French backgrounds. The main advantage to their French backgrounds is the incredible French cuisine that is produced in St Martin’s high-quality restaurants.

St Vincent

Romac Sotheby's International Realty Company: Real Estate Agent in Charlotte Amalie, VI

Just below St Lucia is St Vincent and the Grenadines. St Vincent is a large island in the southern Caribbean that is known for its beautiful landscape that includes elevated terrain, beautiful beaches and magnificent shoals. The Grenadines separate St Vincent from Grenada and are a string of 500 islands that are largely uninhabited.

St Vincent only recently gained the attention of tourists and Caribbean enthusiasts making the island largely undeveloped. For those who are seeking a more authentic Caribbean experience, it’s hard to find so much natural Caribbean land anywhere other than St Vincent.

The Grenadines is an exciting area, because it has so much undeveloped land. An island with several or just one home on it can be purchased. An adventurous investor could buy an uninhabited Caribbean island and build a house on it making the ultimate secluded Caribbean home.

St Lucia

Romac Sotheby's International Realty Company: Real Estate Agent in Charlotte Amalie, VI

St Lucia is one of the most populous islands in the Caribbean having 150,000 people calling this island paradise home. Though it is one of the larger Caribbean islands having 240 square miles of land, the thing that drives people to live here is its natural beauty and fun-loving atmosphere. St Lucia is known as “Helen of the West Indies” for its scenic vistas like its mountainous terrain that comes to a halt at its beautiful white sandy beaches.

The islands large tourist industry and population allows for the public works to be higher quality than most Caribbean islands. St Lucia also has some of the nicest property in the Caribbean either built right on the white sandy beaches only steps from the Caribbean’s famously blue waters or perched on its hilltops with breathtaking view of St Lucia’s elevated terrain.

"Allawe" on the lovely island of St Croix are Irish for a day - and that day is the day of the St Patties day parade - which was last Saturday. Hundreds of locals, transplants, and tourists show up to drink and revel, watch or participate in the parade, and enjoy some wonderful live music. The festivities began around 9:00 a.m. - when throngs of us made our way to our favorite float to decorate it and ourselves.

This year, I was on the "Pickled Greek's" float. Pete is the magician (chef - second from left in photo below) for this new restaurant and he and his lovely and talented daughter Nikki (at end on right in photo below) decked us all out in green togas, headbands, pins and beads and armed us with pickles to throw at the crowd! I believe our float won this year - but no one seemed to care who won what - a good time was had by all.

The parade started around 11 and took several hours to wind its way thru the two main streets of town. The crowds were enthusiastic and eager to receive beads, pickles, pins, candy, or whatever we wanted to toss at them from the float! Afterwards, a phenominal Irish band - Finnegan's Wake - entertained us at a great watering hole (Angry Nate's) where the green beer and jamison were flowing freely. Later that afternoon - Banooba - a band from the states who always comes here for the St Patties' parade - rocked the stage at Club 54. Christiansted was packed and spirits were high - it was a beautiful and fabulous and fun day on the island!

Why don't you join us next year?
