Woodinville Real Estate Fall Colors.
One reality that continues to amaze me, as I work in real estate in the Woodinville area, is the lack of awareness of fall colors around Puget Sound. A number of friends have expressed disbelief that we have a colorful season. A foreign architect working on one of my real estate projects, insisted that the pictures he had seen of fall in Washington State must have been photo-shopped or otherwise faked. Perhaps this lack of knowledge is due to the typical focus on our dominant evergreen woodland, leading to an inability to see the trees for the forest.
Whatever the reason, the distinct seasons are a rich part of the Pacific Northwest's vibrant beauty, and fall is a favorite of mine that makes living here very rewarding. So before it's officially over, I'd like to take a look at what was a particularly vibrant season of color this year. Starting out in my home town of Woodinville, we'll gas up for the trip at a Shell station definitely color coordinated for the season. The trees next to the station look like flaming torches decorated by the same crew that painted the station.
Once we hit the road . . .we see the warm tones of Fall everywhere. All along the roadways and beyond we find treats for the eyes . . .
from vibrant reds and luminous oranges to violet and yellow in many hues, tones and saturations. The glow of the sun filtering through the leaves and setting off a variety of colors is spectacular. Yellow and orange against a blue sky is a wonderful combination
Early in the season the colors begin to reflect in our many lakes . . .
Woodinville is well known for balloons floating overhead . . .bringing color down from the sky. These sightseers almost landed in our backyard around dinner time . . .

to join another colorful flying life form landing on our flowers . . .

My buddy Ziggy enjoys playing in the leaves after they hit the ground . . .almost as much as plowing through the snow just around the corner.

Mary always brings the color indoors . . .arranging the collected varieties on a countertop in our family room.
For me, as an artist as well as a Realtor, the season inspired two new paintings for an art collecting client I had the pleasure of serving by listing and selling his 18 acre sanctuary in Woodinville this year.
The real estate was a wonderful collection of scenic "rooms". . .from the reflection lake he nurtured . . .

to his world famous Zen Garden with a touch of Fall color:

Photos of these two paintings can be seen at my art site.
Fall is a great season to visit the Puget Sound area. But, even better than visiting, buy some real estate and settle in for a great show of the seasons with a palette of wondrous colors.

Have you wanted to make a change and move into a home that has that special something that you don't have now? Maybe you need more bedrooms for a growing family, more space for a hobby, your own home office, a bigger yard for your pet, a place to garden, maybe you need more light and less trees, more privacy for your BBQs, you want a different style of home, or perhaps you need a mother-in-law suite for a family member who is moving in with you soon. Think of all the possibilities.
The timing couldn't be better-there are plenty of move-up homes to select from right now, prices have rolled back to what they were in 2006, interest rates are at historic lows and now there is a credit for move-up buyers who enter into a contract to purchase homes priced $800,000 or less by April 30, 2010.
Here is a link for more information on the New and Expanded Credits for Home Buyers.
In fact, this could be the perfect time for you to make a move.

Wow - A Gregerson Custom home in the 1984 Street of Dreams Neighborhood - Brookside Country Club!
This is a home where you can really spread out with 4 bedrooms and a den on one end of the home and a bonus room on the other. You will love the open feel of the lot with a large side yard and views even larger since this community doesn't allow perimeter fences. (Feels like a golf course without the price).

Are you curious about the road work on Avondale?
The committee for A Better Avondale has been hard at work over the last year meeting with DOT and county executives to get the road improved and the county to address the road noise (read more @ www.ABetterAvondale.org).
So what are they doing?
King County Department of Transportation has begun the work on a test patch between NE 144th and NE 151st St. They are currently working on the northbound lane (causing a temporary shut down of the lane) and will begin work on the southbound lane approximately next Wednesday. The work on each lane involves removing damaged panels, digging down about one foot, adding new foundation material (gravel), compacting the gravel, then testing for proper compaction, before doing a "hot pour" to re-pave where needed. They are using "hot pour" because it cures faster and the road can be re-opened as soon as possible. After the panel repair, the road will be grinded using the Next Generation Grinding technique.
The grinded surface is expected to be smoother, quieter and safer. Noise measurements will be taken and analyzed after the project. At that time, decisions will be made about how to repair (re-surface) the remaining sections of old Avondale road. The feasibility of grinding vs. resurfacing with Asphalt Rubber will be studied.
By the way, for those curious, there was a delay in starting the project because of other road closures in the area (which could impact Avondale traffic) and the beginning of school.
